The Spanish were the USA of South and Central America, but at least they existed since the 1500s and are a people group.

I doubt it. Russia will still want to sell and buy from the rest of the world, and you always want to keep in touch with other peoples.
The Soviets already tried cutting off from the world, and all it did was create mass defections and a brain drain, due to the “Grass always Greener” effect.
Same story with North Korea.

Unless they are planning to introduce a Temple/Shrine structure to teh native civs, and these are the Big Buttons for those, I guess these are just meant for a future expansion.

For a moment I thought they might be the Mapuche, but their clothes are more similar to those of the natives of North America, so they may be the Apaches.
What does not fit with the Mapuches is the tomahawk (although they used stone axes) and the eagle, although the eagle could be due to an error that is popular on the internet, some believe that Lautaro means “Speedy Eagle” when it really means “Bald Fast”. The Apaches like several cultures of Central and North America are related to the eagles.

I really hope there will be a bunch of new additions to Native, Euro and Asian civs, because USA is looking like it will be tryhard Heaven, and the current civs will have no chance.

I also want more Native American civilizations. Although I personally would like the Jivaros to be added, Apache is an obvious choice, and the Apaches are a good fit in AoE 3.
According to the images of the large buttons, I think there is a 60% chance that they are Mapuche and a 40% chance they are Apaches.
I really do not see Mapuches in these pictures. I would say Apaches or Comanches.

I would propose adding to the list the Purepecha or “Tarascan empire”, which, as its name says, was a very large empire and the main rival of the Mexica / Aztec empire, and about which there is a lot of information.
The capital was Tzintzuntzan, its home city could be seen like this:
Their culture was very different from the Mexica, because they did not build pyramids, they did not speak Nahuatl, and their religion was unique.
Edit: their time span is between AOE2 and AOE3, so they can be present in the game without problem

Puripechas would have made more sense than Aztecs, to be honest.
I want them in AoE2 more than in 3, however.
their time span is between AOE2 and AOE3, it is also highly unlikely that they will be added to aoe2, aoe3 is focused on colonialism, that’s why there are so many native nations (both playable and minor). I prefer to be realistic and request them in a game in which they could add them (with the recent expansions of aoe2… it is sure that they will not add more American civ)
And the Aztecs are present in the game and thankfully they will never cease to be … so
