Comments like these give me to understand that there is still a lot to do in AoE3 :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Sad you didn’t include the Kiowa as an option. They are of much interest to me after watching the In the Tall Grass (2019) movie, despite not being actually depicted there. I didn’t know about them.

After studying the impacts of colonization, I am particularly interested in Americans (not as in North America, but America as a whole.

Love the idea of Comanche faction. They are kinda overlooked and got pretty bad press in the culture, probably due to their fierce resistance and huge amount of mexicans and settlers being killed or captured by them. The Kiowa tribe could easily replace them on maps and as a tactical substitute. So, here are a few ideas for them:

  • focused on raiding and aggressive playstyle - getting coin trickle for every enemy unit/building destroyed
  • good early eco, especially at hunting
  • 90-100% cavalry units
  • no walls, defenses
  • tepee bonuses as Sioux
  • packable TC to move to the other place when needed (nomadic playstyle)
  • maybe mounted moving villagers with speed like 5.5 - 6.5 to not be OP and avoid being rushed that easily
  • maybe possibility to capture enemy units / buildings as they were known for capturing and assimilating people
  • strong early cavalry costing wood + food (best early lancers, mounted archers)
  • getting weaker with time, no serious bonuses late on other than good cav units they must rely on
  • horses breeding for gold and maybe some food - that could be breeded at their corrals
  • lobo warrior as an elite unit - see this doc for more references
  • aztec like warriors structure, but cavalry. Cheaper, earlier decent raiding parties and more powerful, elite ones in separate building (maybe with some defense capabilities)
  • meagre infantry if any, some clubmans tomahawks and archers
  • cav: early on tomahawks, lancers, strong bow riders, raiders (some european accents as said mails or hats), slow reloading rifles (they accessed guns fairly early). Later faster reload rifle riders, mounted with revolvers, powerful lancers, coup riders (they were known for counting coups, area attacks), stalkers (invisibility skill)

Would love to see them, obviously sharing a lot with Sioux, but are much more cavalry oriented. Especially eco based on horses and raiding, aggressive early gameplay would be very interesting.

Techs like lords of the southern plains, comanche moon, trade language, war party (spawn raiders a few times), great raid, captives and so on

I’d love to see Mapuche in the Age of Empires franchise

I’d welcome them for AOE2 too.

Maybe North America, but South America is represented very poorly

Some of these ideas are cool but sound too similar to Lakota imo.

I think Mapuche would be a more interesting faction in terms of distinctiveness and playstyle
