Because releasing this DLC will be a disaster. It seems WE and FE are oblivious. The reaction to the announcement is so overwhelmingly negative and for good reason.
There are far too many problems with not only putting in the 3K civs to ranked, but the depictions of the Khitans and Jurchens, and their lack of campaign. Also the lack of Tibetans and Tanguts have angered players.
Three kingdoms needs to be a chronicles DLC, simply put. It should be split off from main AOE 2 DLC. The Jurchens and the Khitans should be postponed and completely reworked and Tanguts and Tibetans need to be added for a DLC later in the year. And can we have Chinese and Korean campaigns as well as the new factions?
I am the biggest backer for a Chinese DLC but this is NOT it. Just like Tales of the Dragon was NOT it. If this DLC makes its May date, the game will lose players, not just the DLC not selling.
I haven’t bought BfG. Not because it didn’t look interesting, but I was really hoping for another medieval dlc and I was busy and I just figured when the next DLC dropped I’d get both.
V&V2 is an absolute abomination. I won’t buy this and I’ll probably hold off on BfG until an actual medieval dlc drops.
But if they put this in chronicles, I’ll instantly buy both V&V2 AND BfG.
I want aoe2 to succeed. I want to give them my money. I’m not going to give them money for garbage. But if they actually do the one thing that can somewhat fix this DLC, I will reward them with my money.
MS, you can have my money. All you have to do is not be stupid.
Split the Khitans and Tanguts. All that really needs is assets for a Khitan castle and Tangut wonder
Add an apology, and that there will be more later and promise to add the missing civs we should have gotten, and to give the Khitans and Jurchens voice-lines.
Good stuff but honestly I’d even just be happy moving 3k to Chronicles. Khitan tanguts is definitely an abomination and devs shouldn’t be lying to us, but if I had to pick just one thing, i’d ask for 3k being moved to chronicles. Everything else is gravy.
Very minimal and reasonable gravy, but gravy nonetheless.
Sure. But I have seen some people wanting “more civs on ranked” even if it’s ahistorical nonsense. So I am making a suggestion that does try to keep them happier by including new ones.
As a Chinese, I can’t accept this DLC, which is more unacceptable than Tibetan political problems.
This is just as bad a setting as AOMEX:Tale of the Dragon.
I am willing to accept that this DLC only has two new CIVs, and there are no battles between Khitan and Jurchen, so it doesn’t matter.
But Wei Shu Wu should not appear in AOE2 basic games, because Wei Shu Wu are not three ethnic groups or civilizations, and they do not conform to the timeline of AOE2. Wei, Shu, and Wu should appear as a chronicle in the Three Kingdoms, and there will be a good battle story.
I hope the petition can be successful and see a correct timeline and a correct AOE2 game setting.
You can accept it if Tibetians will be released as a civ or appear in Chinese campaigns? The latter will be somewhat like Burgundians in Frank campaigns before Definitive Edition.
Of course, it’s acceptable, China is a multi-ethnic republic, Tubo, Xiongnu(Hun), Xianbei, Khitan, and Jurchen are the same, without any difference. This can be learned in the textbooks of CPC.
You can understand it this way:
The country of the Chinese(Han), the country of the Jurchens, the country of the Tibetans, the country of the Uyghurs,They are all part of history, it is also a part of China, China is not only inhabited by Chinese(Han).
Maybe the Americans/Europeans will think that the Chinese people’s idea is strange
------------I’m sorry, I used machine translation-----------
I actually think the developers just don’t get that multiple ethnic groups are Chinese. Many westerners think China is a cultural and ethnic monolith, it is not. This is reflected in the civ choices they have made.
I do think the current Chinese should be renamed the Han. They should have done a split like how they handled India.
This is a very unrealistic demand that I don’t think is even possible even if it’s controversial.
Simply put, I think a lot of players will buy this DLC and it will sell well. Despite the controversy.
Now, if was ridiculously controversial as in adding aircraft carriers and giant robots into ranked play vs medieval civs then I guess it could be boycotted successfully. But as it stands even if it’s historically inaccurate it doesn’t look completely out of place. Would be out of place is like turning Bender from Futurama into a good person, he’s meant to be a bad guy.
The “archenemy” you seen in “Chang An” is actually the Yarlung Dynasty(CE600-848) , first unified dynasty/empire of Tibet. Working on it alone in future releases(civ name is Yarlung) will do to avoid embarrassments
