Here is another tower rush pro game to your point: MarineLorD vs PuppyPaw - Road to Red Bull Wololo - Open Weekly 2 FINAL ~ Age of Empires 4 - YouTube It’s painful to watch it this often among pros. Maybe the changes to the new patch fix it, but it should not be this meta. I do think it should be possible to tower rush, just not this powerful. One of my big complaints about AOE 3 is that you can’t build a tower next to the opponent town center at all, which I find annoying. As for your proximity idea, it would keep you from making towers by berry patches out in the map. If a proximity is used, which I would not like personally, it should be to buff towers so the defense side has an edge, but the enemy can still try to tower rush in my opinion.
Thats not really a TR. Yes puppy tried it and it failed so he stopped it and still ended up being so much behind. He could’ve been castle at very similar timing to HRE and contest relics and still win the game and no one would complain. That TR was big commitment that didn’t pay off.
Essentially ML went for fishes which is risky play and lost tons of villagers which lead him to die and this is castle vs feudal raiding so ML has all the advantages he needed.
He also sent first prelate out without any protection. He could’ve sent it with 1 knight which would’ve forced bigger response from puppy to counter it
a Personal opinion is villagers’ siege(torch) base damages from 10 to 11 additive changing updates. That +1 update doesn’t change in-game major stream mechanics and nerfs Towers+Rams Rushes instantly. But currently 50% of bonuses available in buildings under construction, is that unbalanced…?
The easy way: let AOE4 learn AOE3, let the player build only a limited number of towers, and allow more (not necessary) over time.
To be sure, never use a method that lets the player dodge arrows by constantly clicking and moving.
That will be very embarrassing if tower’s fire range still shorter than longbow even if they have been upgraded.
May be one of thinkable way is to prohibit those building action in the area near your enemy’s TC, just like what they do on mongol TC. However, I am not pretty sure about that.
Why don’t we limit infrastructure too? Everyone can create 3 stables 6 barracks 4 archery ranges 1 siege workshop?
why? do you think towers shooting further? why?
I mean we might need some way to nerf tower’s aggressiveness when not harm its defensiveness.
