You forgot, ironically, to mention the Incas, and I suppose they were not “different” enough from the Mesoamericans and that is probably because to this day they share the architectural style of the Mesoamericans. Hopefully it is possible that in the near future a unique medieval South American architecture will be developed for AoE 2, hopefully one day they will also add some extra South American civilization such as the Chimú *
*The Chimú theme created by the user @JCC3001 is very complete and it must be recognized that despite the language barrier, he managed to do a whole research work with data that I didn’t even know (it’s not because I’m presumptuous, it’s because my teachers taught me these topics in school).
I already have a rough template of the Polish medieval history that I paste when accusations against Poland gets to rediculous. Although if the anti Poles actually bother to read the historical content is an entirely different story.
I’m not for nothing a big fan of Independent architecture mods. Shameless self-advertisement but if you still play HD from time to time, you should check out my architecture set compilation:
The graphics are not my work, it’s mostly Abejin, Omarr_gg and a few others. I just collected their work into a big mod.
I think wogule did not think to create new DLC for AoE 2 DE. It is quite possible that LotW was a test of whether people would want to buy a small DLC (maybe a test before the release of AoE 4 - they are considering a potential DLC policy). Perhaps DotD will be a classic, large DLC (4-5 civs and a similar number of campaigns) - maybe LotW sales disappointed the creators, or the opinions about it.
So DotD could turn out to be a big and rich DLC. If its sales and feedback are positive, we can expect further development of the game. If not, the developers can abandon the development of this game in favor of AoE 4 - just like they shifted the development of AoE 1 in favor of other games.
I think it would be possible to create a style that could be common to both Rus and Vikings. Potential Finnish (Finno-Ugric umbrella) civ could also use it - after all, it is between them.
I also saw the Byzantine style. It could easily be used by Byzantines and Bulgarians (and potentially by Georgians and Armenians).
Could I ask you for pictures of buildings of all ages (both styles)?
Looking at both photos, in my opinion the one below is more “Rus” than the one at the top. The one at the top looks like a typical Eastern European city - it could be a great replacement for the one that is currently in the Imperial Age.
People whom tend to focus only on what THEY want tend to be less informed.
Especially ones whom have a narrow mindset, believing all that they think is correct and anyone whom differs from them are wrong .
I agree, anyone whom are not interestd in cultures apart from Europe should educate themselves in the histories and cultures of other peoples.
I would love to see the final European civs added in this DoTD DLC, Poland and Bohemia and then from there to get more DLCs from all over the globe, starting with the Caucasus, then Africa, Asia and then CA/SA+Pacific region.
Each added civ deserves to be studied and their histories known in deapth and in doing so one can recreate countless historical battles/campaigns between a multitude of civs that actually transpired. Reading up on the events, peoples, battles and cities and then recreating that in game . To me, that is the essence of AoE.
Yeah but I mention Europe becasue the modern notion we have of medieval Europe being the only thing that matters and dominating pop culture so uninformed people tend to always go for Europe first so theres a lot of people that barely know about non-European history.
