Nope, I thought I was in the AOE4 forum. My mistake. But a Viking campaign would be good.
Eagle warriors would never beat Halberdiers with equal numbers in real life.
It’s not only about realism, its also about representation and polynesia is a vast unrepresented area of the globe. Plus a water-centered meso-civ would be cool.
That is because real life Halberdiers were not anti-Cavalry specialists, but actually allrounders. The Halberd was designed precisely to be good against both Cavalry and Infantry. It was the best Polearm ever designed, which is why it was so widely adopted.
It also did not replace the Pike. The Pike was used long after the Halberd fell out of fashion.
Other polearms have originated in other places and cultures that have other names but serve the same purpose and work the same way. basically that’s just because it works and wherever it was tried it turned out being very effective.
But the Halberd is the best one ever invented.
It is literally a Longspear, a Poleaxe, a Military Hook and a Military Pick, all in one.
It was widely adopted in Europe, the Ottoman Empire (which copied it from Europe) the Saffavid and Omani Sultanates, The Mughal Empire, China and even the Inca, who developed it seperately.
It was literally the perfect culmination of centuries of development of a battlefield-worthy all purpose melee weapon. You could literally do everything that other melee weapons could, with a Halberd, even if not as good as more specialized weapons.
It is the swiss army knife of melee weapons.
For example, you could not hook an opponent with a Naginata, or really effective stab with a Guandao. Both were Poleswords that were useful for cutting, but lacked stabbing power against heavily armed opponents.
You literally had to charge from horseback, to be able to impale with them, while a Halberd could do it easily.
Southeast Asia, with the Burmese originally moving from Southern China and speaking Sino-Tibetan language. Khmer speaks Austro Asiatic like the Vietnamese. Malay speaks Austronesian like those in Madagascar and Polynesia. None of the three language families are widely spoken in South Asia (mostly Indo-European and Dravidian).
Geographically Southeast Asia, culturally East Asia.
In any case, the tectonic plate pretty much defines the word South Asia. It’s not without reason that people call that place a subcontinent.
Seriously, just make a Southeast Asia option. I, for one, would not know where to place the Tais if there are only South or East Asia. Most of their time during the period was spent in Southern China, so it’s pretty wrong to call them South Asian. Yet, it would be wrong to call them East Asian as well, due to Indian cultural influence.
so we must ad primitve civs to represeent whole globe? even if they not fit in time and game?
we dont have to but it would be nice
Khmer, Burmese, Malay, and Viets are Southeast Asians, not South Asians. South Asians refer to peoples like Indians, Pakistanis, and Sri Lankans.
If we only have 9 spots left, then I want civs outside of Europe, preferably 2 in East Asia (Jurchens and Tanguts), 2 in Southeast Asia (Chams and Siamese), 1 in South Asia (Tamils), 2 in Africa (Kanembu and Swahili), and 2 in the Americas (Chimu, Anasazi)
i want same but give georgia insted americas
I still think all the big civs from the Americas that somewhat realistically can go toe to toe with the civilizations from the rest of the world are already represented
Europe is ahead because it is not split up. If you add the votes for South Asia, East Asia and Central Asia, it would be the biggest by far. My guess is that if you split up Europe in West, East and North or something, then South Asia would have the most votes.
As usual every medieval games will just be based around Europe.
yup ur a wise man others couldbt compete
61 votes so far, Europe clearly in the lead.
Its good that you can only vote for one or else the numbers get interpreted in different ways.
62 vote is me for europe.
I did precisely to know which one region is the most popular for the playerbase. I myself voted for North America, because it is empty at the moment.
I want your poll to reach at least 250 and then, maybe, you might compare it with those I made
