Poll (are you buying the game)

Since when did $59 become ‘priced fairly’?

I’d say ‘priced fairly’ is $39 - $49. $59 is ‘priced premium’ and yeah, it’s got to be pretty much flawless at that price.

That’s the price of pretty much all new games from big studios.

Prices for all games are rising, a trend of the last two years. Humble yourself.
As I have said many times, games are a luxury, not a necessity, it’s like going to the movies or theater, the state or any other department is not obliged to provide you with access to this entertainment. If this price is high enough in your country, it should raise questions about the country’s economy, the level of well-being of the population and the stability of the currency. This is clearly not a problem for Microsoft.

For a few decades now, lol

Did you play the closed beta?

The last game I can remember that was $59 was Civilization VI, a ‘AAA’ title if there ever was one.

Yes indeed, I sure did.

Are you familiar with ‘elasticity of demand’?

Price goes up, sales go down. Price goes down, sales go up. I just want them to maximize their profits, not sure if $59 is the best way to do that. If it’s a big hit then yes, $59 is probably the way to go.

Are you serious? Every single AAA game is priced at $60, has been since the 90s

$60 is pretty normal for new games. Just look on steam

I will tell you one more time. Prices for all games are growing, this is a massive decision of all major publishers, they explain this by the fact that “development is getting more expensive”, I’m not sure if this is so, but in any case, the position of all participants is solid, prices will not decrease, so EA, Activison games , Sony, Microsoft and the rest of the big studios will cost more, this is how the capitalist market works. Since games are not a product of an obligatory necessity, their price can be anything, it is purely a personal business for each person, how much he can afford to spend on entertainment. Of course, it would be nice if the price were lower, the game would be more affordable, but on the other hand, there is no reason for it to decrease against the background of the rising prices of other companies, all games are equally expensive.

Probably not. I’ve already played the medieval Age of Empires II game, I’m really not in a rush to play another remake with newer game engine.

I don’t get that whole issue about the price either.

  • 59.99€ is pretty normal pricing for games of that caliber. I remember paying smth. like 50€ for the newest Assassins’ Creed game (which came yearly at that time), and the story missions barely lasted 12 hours.

  • 60€ for a title I will be spending at least 100 hours with is fair. Already payed the beta 20 hours - so things should be fine.

  • Even if I play less then that, I already played AOE2&3 3000+ hours. So I will gladly pay the regular price to support the franchise - the amount of love they showered AOE2:DE and AOE3:DE with is already amazing!

AND they even already lowered the price for the Deluxe Edition from 79.99 to 67.99 via the bundle (if you own the other DE games) - that’s a 15% discount right there.

Already pre-ordered and can’t wait to try the Abbasids and HRE tomorrow!

PS: If any of you want to check the beta out together, dm me here  ! We are all noobs and gotta learn somehow

It really isn’t a remake but I can understand why you wouldn’t want to.

If the ‘stress test’ is cool I’d be tempted to pre-order just to encourage them to do a AOM:DE.
