[Poll] Post-Porto Civ DLC by Region

I’m not talking about history that is “interesting” to me.
I’m not a Buddist, Muslim or Confusionist.
But I can acknowledge that they are important part of history and culture.
But because I don’t more about Quran, I’m not qualified to say that is has had a great impact on history and culture?

Correct, this is why I always refer to the below in all my posts:

except here is the problem. you provide zero source to back up any of your claims, especially stuff about significant events, which is highly subjective and you’re inherently biased against Europe. that is why i said a NEUTRAL historian. someone who actually studies this type of stuff for a living, which i highly doubt you do, and you’re not neutral anyway by any standard.

Well, usually a historian starts with explaining his method and that history, even with all professionalism, still has some subjectivity left.

There’s already just the things you say and don’t say which matter. Also the way you’re saying it as well as how trustworthy your sources are. Who said what with which intent in which context. Is the person lying or not etc.

Lots of stuff to consider.

that’s very much true, but at least a neutral party is better then someone who is inherently biased for or against europe.
furthermore i highly doubt many people posting in this forum are what you would call a true historian.

All I base myself on regarding significant events was this Mat

I don’t see what I said as being biased against Europe. If anything the numbers themselves clearly speak for the significance and vastness of Asia, that’s all Im saying.

again, your claim was significant events. IE, did it have a lasting impact on the world around it.
something like the 100 years war, and Ghengis Khan easily qualify as this. other things? open to interpretation.

Exactly, this is what I was saying, the impact on the world around it is to be measured, and it is based on many factors such as:

Well the significance will only apply to its region, or any that were involved.

The only inherently great things that had global significance at this time in history would be religions

More like, any civ or any event that has very high numbers (high numbers of population, economy, army, navy, battles, stories in medieval age) should get recognition and its own place

That may be religious events or that may be wars, or new civs etc.
And most of these are in Asia/Africa (including religions)

Significance does depend on numbers

Well Europe had around 80 million when Asia had 230 million and Africa had 65 million (and americas with 55 million).

So Europe is still bigger than Africa in population

BUT the main difference would be density of population which means more of everything in general - trade, conflict, larger and more organized armies to continue competing frequently etc.

Yet Africa has only 3 civs while Europe has 19.

Asia is 3 times bigger than europe in all respects including religions, stories, wars, population, pre-colonial economy, etc etc. (My data was right @MatCauthon3)
Yet Asia has less civs than Europe.

where are you getting this information from lol

Btw just doing 80 x 3 doesn’t automatically mean 3x stories and all that

Look at the pre-colonial era and mediavel era economy figures and charts

India and China were 33% of world economy each (TOTAL 66%) all the way upto the colonial era

They are also 33% of the Population and bigger land mass?

Just those few euro countries combined is 30% at 1500 mark. Add in the rest and even more
Your graph is highly inaccurate

Please stop disputing who is more important than the other. This discussion is useless, because there are no established criteria for judging. Population and economy certainly didn’t cross the devs’ minds when they went to add the Huns for example.

You mean that Asian people’s stories and history is not as important as European people’s stories and histories.

You mean that even if Europe is 3 times smaller, still Europe getting the lion’s share of medieval stories and significance is correct. Sorry to reveal it to you, but this is all incorrect and does not hold.

Its not my graph, its the graph done by your own western researchers and historians.

Who we don’t know if they are lowballing Asian economy (looking at the western people on this forum who say we cant afford PCs)

Of course, the two expansions are not comparable, TDOTD put us a region like Eastern Europe, instead TAR put us an entire continent with everything that means … TDOTD with respect to AoE 2 DE is one more expansion, while TAR with respect to AoE 3 DE is practically a complete whole game…
