[Poll] Should AoE4 get Native Americans?

You continue to dodge the fact that they can change a few of the things natives didn’t have access too and replace them.

It’s a game. It doesn’t have to hold water at a PhD dissertation. But if it needed to, the native civs could establish they could rival others.

DO you think AoE4 would follow in their tracks? I think Relic is much smarter than this

Can’t wait for a much more historically accurate AoE 4 on Oct. 29.

Go play the old games if you hate a game change so much.

More than a few things, which would make the natives the worst civ for accuracy and give a not-nice appeal to the game.

Not realistically.

Every Eurasian + African Civ can be in the game and be mostly accurate, whereas natives would be very inaccurate in comparison to everyone else (if you choose the beef balancing option) or accurate and very weak. Best solution is to not include.

Read:

one oif the quotes: “Relic went everywhere, all over the world, when it became time to start researching the civilisations we’re going to have in the game at launch. It was so important to be authentic

Adam says: “I want Age of Empires 4 to be a trusted source of history

and “We’ve gone to great lengths to make sure that our history is accurate to the places.”

You can’t have an authentic AND balanced native civ

Go watch a documentary if you love 100% accuracy so much

At the end of the day you do understand this is a video game right?, relic knows this too and they are going to accommodate to both people by having an in between from people that want 100% accurate civs and people that want good gameplay

Yes, authenticity doesn’t mean 100% accuracy, if that’s the case there wouldn’t be magical relics that make enemies turn to your side when a priest holds it. Again age is part fantasy part history, and monks still being able to convert is confirmation they aren’t going full documentary mode on us, in other words, more authentic =/= 100% authentic

He is right, and Relic backed themselves into this corner. You cannot be both authentic and balanced. The vast majority of the best RTS games ever, were poorly balanced.

You guys are adorable.

Watched them all

They are putting more priority on accurate history.

You deny that monks couldn’t convert people’s religion? lol

And it has been talked about relic anticipates competitive tournaments, meaning that balance is a concern, otherwise they would have not said that and of course, it’s impossible to have a game that’s both balanced and accurate and asymmetric, armies in the Middle Ages were not very asymmetric.

Converting religion by carrying a magical relic and happening to convert every soilder within a very perfectly drawn circle is in fact not real, group conversion is a thing in aoe4, it’s already been confirmed. So go kiss goodbye to documentary mode, anyways that’s what campaigns are for.

He meant you can’t have authentic and balanced natives

not at all related to my thread. This is again comparing a big inaccuracy to a minor one.

Still, religion was a powerful thing and things like the special spear did provide great morale and could instil lfear in enemies

Age of Empires is a fantasy game. Priests say wololo and turn peoples’ clothes different colors. Now in AoE4 they carry relics and do it to a crowd like a mini atom bomb. I can assure you that the franchise’s commitment to history is not incompatible with its commitment to its fantasy roots. But to appreciate it one needs to loosen up a bit and roll with the punches. If a civ historically didn’t have horses. It still gets units who counter ranged and may even get units countered by other civs’ anti cav units. It’s just gameplay decisions.

You are still avoiding the big issue by focusing on a minor issue.

Forget about a relic changing someone’s religion.

Tell me how you can add authentic natives and balance them

It only ‘gets’ units if they existed in the first place

Ok, then I want Christian civs to be able to literally call down the Wrath of God, and wipe out any non-Christian civ with a single attack.
I also want the Spanish, when introduced, to be literal gods, so the natives cannot fight them, and just bow down in worship.

I mean, you can decide to pound your chest all you want and raise hell that you have a dusty old history book that says x unit should have y hit points, or some damn thing, but if that’s where you are going to measure history, then buckle up and prepare to be disappointed. And don’t be surprised when we look at you in disbelief, because that’s always been how it’s been around here since 1997.

To quote from what I said earlier, since you seemed to ignore it,

Not entirely either.

Like what? Like having the english towers produce infantry and siege units?
Or the chinese spies? or the abbasid’s fifth age?

They can do something similar for aztecs and mayans.

And ofc they would. You don’t release a civ that gets rolled over by everyone. That’s poor game design. And, again, we are playing a game.

Chinese are not authentic and balanced, we can’t know if they are balanced yet, but building two big buildings does not change the ruling family of your empire, again don’t be biased, apply your logic with natives to your logic about every other civ.

You cannot deny how insignificant natives were to non-native civs in a contemporary time period

Other civs don’t have this issue as much

You seemed to ignore what the game director said:
This is a fresh start for us. We want to modernise the series and that means we are going to do things differently
