I’d like to suggest a new co-op game mode and hear what you guys think:
The core idea is allowing multiple players to control the same civilization in a single match, fully sharing the same base, resources, units and map vision. This could create a more dynamic and cooperative experience, while also helping new players learn how to play different Gods — for example, one player already knows the God’s economy start and progression, while the other joins in more actively later in the game.
(This mode would open up a very fun and strategic cooperative experience. Players could split roles naturally: one focuses on economy and base building, another on army control and raids, another on map pressure or defending against myth units. With multiple players building and fighting at the same time, maps would feel more alive, more populated, and battles could happen across the entire map simultaneously. I truly believe this would be a unique, highly replayable mode and a big hit for cooperative play in Age of Mythology.)
Which version of this mode would you like the most?
- Two players: controlling the same God Both players have full control over economy, buildings, units and army.
- Commander & Support mode: One player has full control of the civilization, while the second player can only control military units already created, focusing purely on battles, raids and map pressure.
- Configurable shared control (permissions system): The main player can toggle permissions in-game (via a small options box), choosing what the second player can control — for example: full control, economy/buildings only, or army only. Permissions could be changed at any time during the match.
