POLL: What Civ or Civs would you like to see in a future DLC/Expansion?

Tot the topic, I voted for Ethiopians,

But I want the Vikings (Norses), Italians (Venezia), Khmer Empire, Majahapit Empire (Malay in AoE2, modern Indonesia), Magyars, Hussites, Crusader Orders…

Not at all. Warships and siege units can be done as unique as the devs want and adjust them for gameplay purposes. See for example Aztecs in AOE 3. You may think that it can not compete against Euro Civs.

But guess what?

Aztecs has pretty decent Win Rate in the ladder!

Yeah if they do Italians, definitely best to call them Venezia.

If i had to guess how the devs think, the most probable civs we will get are either Viking, Aztect, Venezia or Khmer. As they would offer the most uniqueness while also being empires with very large influence in AOE4 timeline.

Im not totally against civ that are slightly out of the AOE4 timeline, i just think there are more relevant civs, and more popular civs, to add first.

I know Aztecs in AoE3,
Mechanically, the Aztecs are fine, they have artilery, cavalry and cavalry archers in infatry form.

But this is absurd concept, to have trebuchet in infatry (“siege archer”) form.

Especially in AoE3 gunpowder setting

Well, it’s the way they found so that the mesocivs don’t feel like the European civs, as happens in AoE 2…

???

Mesocivs don’t feel like the European civs, as in AoE 2?

With Siege weapons from siege workshop, armed with iron swords, halberds, crosbows and navies contain galleons and fire ships with greek fire

weapons, which medieval mesoamericans never had

Of course, that’s why I say it, the mesocivs and the European civs (and the other civs) of AoE 3 are more different than the mesocivs and the European civs (and the other civs) of AoE 2…

The game has more than enough civs for now.
The introduction of new civs in this broken-balance game has to stop for at least a year from now on.

Yes, people asked for civs and they had them…with the 6 civs they put in now it’s fine (AoE 3 at 2 years old had 14 civs, AoE 4 has 16 civs now)(although I still lack new campaigns, so to In 2025 we will have like 9 campaigns)…

It seems that you did not understand what “in the future” means :unamused:

It seems you dont understand what “broken-balance game” means :unamused:

Already understand what it means
The game balance’s is broken now.
But remember that there will be monthly patches along the away!

Why only these options? seems so misleading to force a vote for this limited pool of civs.

Its about most likely civs to appear in the game

Khmer and majapahit are a lot more likely than Poles or Vietnamese or Portuguese. Persian was under abbasid control so also very unlikely.

You seem to have listed only names that exist in modern times (or other era) instead of listing the ones influencial in middle ages. Italy was not even a thing untill the 18XX

Here’s a more likely list:

Vikings (Danes or Norse)

Aztecs (or Inca)

Spanish

Venice

Khmer

Majapahit

Korean

But apparently the devs are not doing spain next as it’s too similar to other euro christian civ so unless that rumor was false the other ones would be more likely.

Spanish aren’t similar to other europeans civs that are already in the game, I can think about at least a unique spearman, a unique horse unit, and a unique gunpowder unit that would fit so good in the game.

Also, think that their culture was very affected by the Al-Andalus invasion, so maybe they can also add things about this.

They will go with Spanish, reason: money, AOE is very popular on Latino america.

I would love to see the Scottish. I think the best civ is the one the most people would play as. Given how popular the English are, they should do something similar. Otherwise you risk adding a really cool civ no one wants or bothers to play. Kinda like the Malians. Amazing and unique civ with less than 1/8th the player base as the English. I’m also looking forward to the India civ they promised whenever it gets added.

There are many interesting option to choose from medieval history…

Aside of interesting civilisations, I would like to have future DLC/Expansion with SP or Coop campaigns to tell the story of these realms

The Sultans Ascend is great expansion, but one of the missed missed opportunities (aside of not having the chivalric orders as variants) is the lack of campaigns for Byzantines and Japanise.

The story of the medieval continuation of ancient Roman Empire, the partition and restoration of the empire after 4th crusade, and other events would be cool and interesting

Same with the Japanise - rise of the samurai class, wars between rival clans, the mongol invasion of Japan, and Sengoku Jidai

Aztecs, Inca and Maya seem me to be the next logical choice. I’d welcome Ethiopia a lot too. Out of the missing European civs, I’d really love to see Vikings with their beautiful architecture and iconic presence in AOE2.

Khmer would be great to have too. There’s so many great candidates AOE4 can still include.
