Portuguese, Castillans, Aragonese, Navarrans, Kingdom of Sicily, Byzantium, Venecians, Genoans, Lombards… Southern Europe was FULL of Medieval empires.

Strategy games are to the West, what Fighting games are to the East.
You would expect the vast majority of Street Fighter characters to be Asian, because that is where the games sell the most.
So it i with Strategy games and the West. The Western market is the biggest consumer of Strategy games, both video and board, even when they do not have a Western setting.
So it makes sense that most Strategy games do have a Western setting.

It is shocking that a forum hosted in the English language appears to indicate its participants are from countries where English is spoken and/or taught.
I am being chippy, but certainly it’s important to consider the desires of a playerbase in building a game. Of course, customer polling is not everything.

English is spoken and understood all around the world. These days, you can find a Colombian or a Thai, that has better English than a Canadian, for example.
That is not a good excuse. The market is a more logical conclusion.
