Mesoamerica all the way, with spanish included.
hmm it’s just letting me vote for 1
It let me vote for 9. On the bright side, MesoAmerica is the top requested one so far,
i just want Japan. after that, idk, Byzantine seem pretty cool?
People really want Danes, Byzantines, Portuguese, Castillans, Venetians, Poles…
the Euro gang’s back in town
Tied for third and only a few people have voted. I expected North Europe and Eastern Europe to be high ones due to vikings/norse and Poles
The Bersikergang, from the looks of it.
South Europe=I have no idea what. Byzantines? Italians?
Portuguese, Castillans, Aragonese, Navarrans, Kingdom of Sicily, Byzantium, Venecians, Genoans, Lombards… Southern Europe was FULL of Medieval empires.
In AoE II they are:
Byzantines, Spanish, Italians, Portuguese, Sicilians.
Maybe because most people ob this forum are European but that is just a guess.
No just because of that.
Strategy games are to the West, what Fighting games are to the East.
You would expect the vast majority of Street Fighter characters to be Asian, because that is where the games sell the most.
So it i with Strategy games and the West. The Western market is the biggest consumer of Strategy games, both video and board, even when they do not have a Western setting.
So it makes sense that most Strategy games do have a Western setting.
It is shocking that a forum hosted in the English language appears to indicate its participants are from countries where English is spoken and/or taught.
I am being chippy, but certainly it’s important to consider the desires of a playerbase in building a game. Of course, customer polling is not everything.

English is spoken and understood all around the world. These days, you can find a Colombian or a Thai, that has better English than a Canadian, for example.
That is not a good excuse. The market is a more logical conclusion.
