Apart from Angeln and Saxonia, i would also really like the Basque civilization. They are extremely unique: the only independent, not indo-germanic language group, thus descending from a totally different group. They were also in Europe before the germanic tribes arrived.
Can be nice, although I often ask myself if it’s not too much.
Oceania was discovered in the 17th century, it deviates a bit from the classic AoE2 timeline with the exception of RoR.
I’ll take your word for it as I don’t know. Now what about South-East Asia? Also I know these regions are mostly covered, but still Mediterranean (Venetians is a strong candidate), Central European (Some want to see Saxons), and Caucasia (Khazars) should be added.
Jurchens (Manchus) + Tibetans + Chinese campaign, maybe add the Hwacha/Nest of Bees/Multiple Rocket Launcher to the Chinese Jurchens Koreans & Mongols as a regional unit to spice up the region, possibly as a replacement for the mangonel line. Steppes architecture style for Jurchens Mongols Huns & Cumans. So overall East Asia
Yeah… I think Chinese campaign would be great, also Korean and Japanese.
And in general there are not enough African or American campaigns either for my opinion, or Middle Eatern…
I don’t think there is room for a Japanese campaign. The main wars are already covered in battles (the Gempei War for Kurikara, the other 3 during the Sengoku period, while the Korean Noryang battle covers the Imjin War) while I don’t think Kublai’s invasion attempt would play nicely as the typhoon did 90% of the work to stop them. A Hideyoshi campagin (starting when serving under Nobunaga and ending with his clan’s defeat at Sekigahara after his death) may work best, notably as it includes the attempted invasion of Korea, but it’s ground already treaded in battles…
Korea, I don’t now much about their history, maybe some interesting character at the time of the country’s unification, possibly while also having to face steppe nomads to spice it up a little bit ?
Japan has tons of untold history, periods like Kamakura and Muromachi, centuries of tribal rivalry and even the failed Mongol invasions (“Kamikaze” - can also tell from the Mongolian side).
Korea also.
And China has so much history that if we really want to tell it, we might need it as a seperate region:)
If it’s just “yet another Japanese civil war” this means the campaign would suffer the same issue that limits the Incan campaign : having only one civ on the map. Which would be limiting gameplay-wise. And the Kamikaze would be very tricky to get right, making the gameplay both good and feel right.
This would be quite down the list, for example keep in mind we don’t even have a proper Byzantine campaign, a fictional family ruling a remote outpost of the empire hurrah, meanwhile where are Justinian & Belisarius, Heraclius or Basil II ?
