All new features will be again supported by amazing @AssertiveWall20 AI. Three maps (Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia) are currently out. The rest is waiting on Beta. What we need the most now are the testers. The stuff is 99% ready and we’re just waiting for feedback to catch the last bugs.

Also someone (I won’t say who) still needs to code in AI support for the underwater stuff

This is beautiful, thank you very much for sharing this content with the community, I hope more people try it so that it can become something like what Wars of Liberty was in its time, I hope over time they can add Latin American civilizations :slightly_smiling_face:

Awesome work though a minor suggestion, I don’t think Wokou is viable as a minor civ on these maps, cause historically I don’t think they ever ventured this far south, replacing them with some Austronesian groups (like Bugis or Moluccans) would probably be better.

It’s only a game my guy.

Yep it’s just a game but it’s a game based on history, hence a certain level of historical accuracy is required.

Apart from the Wokou all the other aspects of this mod are quite awesome and are largely based on history and geography AFAIK.

Please don’t conflate historically themed with being based on history. It’s like a movie that’s based on a true story vs being a true story.

It’s like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer versus the Lincoln biopic with Daniel Day-Lewis.

As long as the gameplay isn’t radically changed because of historical flavour (which would be stupid) then its fine.

Because AoE3 is on the sidelines compared to the others, it can get away and has got away with some historically accurate and nerdy stuff. Case in point - the ‘95th’ badge on the British Ranger unit. Did it have to added? Noooo. Do I appreciate it? Hell yeah. It doesn’t effect gameplay and technically it’s not that accurate as it’s a British Ranger, not British Rifles… but it’s a nice historical nod that wouldn’t find itself in AoE2 or 4.

In the newest version, Wokou will not be on Australian maps (except Torres Strait). They’re primarily just in the northwest areas of Melanesia and Micronesia. But it also depends on how you define Wokou. If you define them purely as Japanese / Chinese pirates then not. But our Wokou are basically Asian Pirates, which is nothing against the game because even the Indonesian Revolution gives you Wokou junks and Cetbang cannons.

The newest Age of Pirates version will bring up completely new Wokou and Pirate leaders which will differ per region. So Kuril Islands Wokou will be at the end of the day very different from the Wokou in Melanesia and the same with Mediterranean and Australian pirates:

Well if we follow the historical definition of them being Japanese and Chinese pirates then they shouldn’t appear in the Torres Strait or anywhere in Papua New Guinea and Eastern Indonesia. With Western Indonesia I’m less certain though they seemed to have been outcompeted by the Dutch and by local pirate groups (like the Bugis) by the 17th century.

Thanks for feedback. We appreciate your opinion. There are plenty of historicaly accurate mods you may play instead :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for the reply. It’s just my personal opinion cause I tend to value historical accuracy quite highly. I’m not saying that you should change it but it would be better if you could change it.
