Porto info that we collected

Oh right that’s why they changed druzhina to not affect them and all. I suppose i they really wanted to they worked to fix it? After all mangonels deal melee damage and can’t kill themselves even if they are Korean attacking from closest range.

Kill themselves doesnt mean literally themselves. It means their own kind, which usually happens with non-siege ranged units due to their tendency to get bunched up

With a gimmick.

It is possible. Look at this edit. Seems like an whooping 8 range to me. I’ll be a dumb if they are attacking the elephants instead.

well there are some who assume the same position on the right but are clearly attacking the units in front of them so they likely don’t have a long range, just a weird animation.

Probably a stupid question but are we sure we’re going to get 3 new South Asian civs with a reworked Indians? We basically just have 2 screenshots of Bengali and Dravidians confirming both of them.

We are sure about nothing. 11

On real notes

That’s the expectation. But it can also be Indians is just removed from the game and we have 3 new civs -Gujaras, Bengalis and Dravidians.

Would be a very strange move

I really hope the leak is true. Would perfectly explain the extra achievements we got.

The leak is not true but we already have the new civ emblems so it doesn’t make sense to not be 3 civs?

Not sure about reworked Indians (at most renamed), but we have 3 new civ emblems with their names.

Yes it will. But 3 and a half civilization is a lot of works for devs.

We have zero information on current Indians. Whether it is renamed or not. Redesigned or anything. And that’s why I’m not completely ruling out the possibility of removing Indians.

I think the possible redesign seems pretty okay. That might be just me though.

Now you may ask why we need information on current Indians? These are 2 very big reasons -

  1. Dravidians wonder is the existing Indians wonder.
  2. Indians UU EA is very likely the regional unit for all 3 new Indian civs.

So if both wonder and UU is gone, the civ needs a complete rework or just delete it. That’s being said, we have enough new units only from 2 screenshots to clearly fit 4 UU on castle and still give 1 to each as a secondary UU.

  1. Chakram Throwers, 2. Spear Infantry, 3. Shrivamsha, 4. New melee elephant without a rider, 5. Urumi, 6. Thrisadai, 7. A chariot which is probaly not Ratha, 8. Ratha

I had a hunch that the new civilizations were going to be from the Indian subcontinent, the “Indians” were the only civilization that had their own unique architecture and it was well known that all the cultures of the subcontinent could not be represented with a single civilization.

What I like the most about this probable DLC is the “rework” for a civilization added in AoE 2: The forgotten, although I will always appreciate the work and dedication of the team to resurrect the saga, it must be admitted that their historical knowledge was limited at the time of designing new civilizations in the MOD 10 years ago: that the game is able to reinvest itself and be more historically accurate, obviously the “classic” civilizations are going to have little or no changes, but the civilizations added in The Forgotten have a lot Potential: The “Slavs” may have their own regional concept (Kievan Rus, Romania, Principality of Galicia-Volhynia, etc), the Incas may retake the name of the “Kingdom of Cuzco” and also develop “regional factions” with architecture and regional units for South American civilizations. I find this new development direction for AoE 2 extremely fascinating.

My deductions:

  • Chakram thrower: ranged infantry, probably light and cheap with medium movement speed (maybe they have some special ability like Coustillier), could be a regional unit.
  • Shivamsha rider: light cavalry, probably their main function is raiding, so they would have an attack bonus against villagers.
  • Hindustani UU Spearmen are probably pikemen with attack bonus against cavalry and also have the ability to move as fast as eagle warriors.
  • Urumi Swordman: infantry with trample damage, low stamina and decent attack.
  • Thirisadai: ?
  • Ratha: Chariot with ranged and melee attack (original Samurai concept for AOE 2 vanilla)

The much-questioned (and sometimes hated) elephant archer will be a regional unit and will have a normal and elite version.

Eastern Europe and Slavs especially have gotten the most attention lately. They’ve been splitted like twice already. I honestly don’t see what they could add new in terms of representation and to be honest, I’m really not interested in even more of stuff we already have a lot already (Eastern European civs or European civs generally.

I agree that there’s a lot potential left in terms of Eagle boni and it would make me really happy to get a 4th and 5th Eagle civ.

Hey everyone, I don’t know if someone else noticed that (too much things to read since few days  )
The new pikemen seem to be running (speed bonus ?) when I zoom in on the first puzzle picture. Could be interesting to be added on the info

Seems that those are modelled after eagle warrior, like how Obuch is modeled after Throwing Axeman.
