Japanese Maa attack faster which is very important for that opener. Imo japanese have one of the best if not the best maa archer opener in the game.

Well I agree that they have quite good early agression potential with these bonusses. But I think they aren’t better than the mentioned 3. I would also count in mongols, but mongols usually don’t open maa archers but scouts mostly. That said it’s absolutely legit for mongols to make a maa archer opener if they want to and it is almost in the same ballpark cause of the timing advantage.

Imo the bonusses aren’t too strong, and opposed to most of the other mentioned civs dravidians can make only a feudal rush, not a drush with these bonusses. So they are more predictable.

OK maybe Japanese m@a are better against palissade because you can’t fit 4 m@a on the same tile, but shouldn’t 4 m@a have the same damage output? Or they just aren’t going to build 4 for whatever reason?

yeah I also considered this just a few moments ago.
theoretically it is possible to make even 5 maa attack one palisade with the patrol stop move trick
so the dravidians could
a) make possibly 1 lumber camp less as they need less wood income due to the free 200.
b) just make 1 maa more cause they safe basically that exact amount of ressources with the maa upgrade
if played this way the bonusses could actually make for a better early maa archer agression potential for the dravidians than japanese
But idk if this trick still works, cause it’s a while since i tried to use it. I’m not very consistent with it tbh.

in the pictures (the second picture you see one) the ratha is shown as a chariot (melee) or a chariot archer!
In the picture is a red chariot, i can recognise its shield from the icon. So that will probably be a charioteer.

Shouldn’t the Dravidians have like monk bonusses? Don’t they include the priest caste?

The new expansion would be called the rise/dawn of the sultans? xd

Medieval guided missiles…xd

4 civs…the Indians would be called Hindustanis, but yes…

I actually find Bengalis the weakest among all, specially in high elo. Elephant is not a viable unit in 1v1 at that level. Bengalis also have one less civ bonus than other two. Ship HP regeneration is small and that alone won’t make them better than an A tier water civ imo. In hybrid though, ship auto repair + 2 free villagers per age may make them an S tier. And in land, I’m guessing they will be mostly an arena powerhouse civ and not that good in Arabia.

If any civ is OP, I bet that will be Gujaras.

Gurjaras seems to be the civ with more eco bonus, but their Imp Stables don’t look good; it’s all but power-spikes for them (Feudal and early Castle)
Dravidians could be the new boy in water maps
Never misjudge 2 extra vills in Feudal and in Castle for the Bengalis, that could be huge for any opening
We need to see the new UU for the old Indians, not sure if that could help them or not

We need regional skins for monks!

Agreed

I think we also need unique temple models for every civ (along with unique castle models)

A region skin for every unit. If they need money, they can make a “regional skin pack”.

I guess you have the same dmg output but thing is you basically never fight maa in feudal age unless you have your own. Usually you try to wall them out and then start slowly picking them off with archers. And if your opponent tries to run away from you it’s easier to get hits in with 3 compared to 4 maa. Also you don’t need to spend the time producing 4th one.

But either way that’s nitpicking I guess as the civ seems to have similar aggressive potential as japanese, bulgarians ethipians and so on.

It’s that but so much better, as you don’t even have to build multiple lumbercamps for the wood bonus to kick in.
Rather comparable to the Britons imo.

I didn’t understand what it means by “Herdable animals can be garrisoned in mills to produce food”. If its something like when garrisoned in mills, you get food at a slower rate but without any vills working on it then that would be quite strong. Honestly that one bonus makes me think its fake. It would depend a lot on their tech tree and features of shivaramsha rider but as of now if its true, Gujaras seem like a pure camel only civ.

Maybe it’s not as efficient as it sounds and more of a long-term investment for maps which have plenty of other food sources.

By the way, the opening post is still missing the kichak galleon/merchanters at arms/something image.

Where does this come from? Anyway I don’t think the new ship is going to be a “kipchak galleon” since longboats do that already.

From the puzzle thread. We’d better get used to seeing this, they said. It’s unknown whether it’s a single ship (new ship or unique technology) firing secondary projectiles or multiple ships firing together, maybe a proper warship plus armed trade cogs or even fishing ships or a transport ship that gains attack from passengers. Though my money is on one ship because of how the arrows are grouped together.
