Still boggles my mind how ports got organs as UU.
At the very least:
One shot aoe dmg.
Increase the range a bit, does splash dmg for example.

organ guns having the same range as arabalest or janissary is so weird anyway. these are freaking artillery not just hand guns.
organ gun has 7 range
elite organ guns should get 8 range (buff by +1 from elte upgrade).
and then siege engineeres would push it to 9 befitting the weapon.
imo this buff would be very fair and needed since organ guns fall short in imperial age getting absoulety recked by paladins, oangers or even jsut heavy scorpions. even heavy cav archers do rly good against organ guns thx to their high pierce armor with parthian tactics and organ guns now very low dmg per round
Gunpowder UU no longer rocks in Castle age and still fall off after imperial. I agree that it is fair to buff imperial upgrade.
Just to add to your ideas maybe the Aventureiro could have the special ability where they will perform a sword technique that is associated with the montante. When they perform this sword technique they could then cause AOE damage or do three attacks in quick succession or something else that is special.
I found this video on YouTube where a guy shows these sword techniques known as âFigueyredoâs 16 Simple Rulesâ for the montante sword which was composed by the Portuguese fencing master Diogo Gomes de Figueyredo (1600 - 1685).
Nice share gonna have a look.
You are welcome!
I donât know if you celebrate it or not but, Happy Halloween to you and everyone else participating in this thread!
I have no proof, but Iâm almost sure the War Wagon is product of a mistranslation because Hwacha in Korean tend to be described as carts or wagons carrying guns.
Good point, whatâs the war wagon even based on. It is just fantasy?
After a decade of research (I am not kidding) I discovered that the Koreans did indeed build something very similar to the ingame War Wagon⊠in the 18th century.
It still fell under the wider category of more exotic âhwachaâ though, which were basically a type of gunpowder carts that they just iterated upon and improved over centuries.
Man spent half of my life researching the same topic related to a relatively obscure 30-year-old strategy game. Thatâs dedication.
Let the War Wagons volley about 4 arrows in a straight line instead, which allows them to get closer to how hwacha work in the simplest way.
Ideally, in addition to the above, I would also like WW to be classified as siege weapons or cavalry + siege weapons rather than cavalry archers.
I assumed the War Wagon is based on (what Wikipedia calls) a Mangam hwacha:
I guess this is an earlier version of what youâre talking about.
It doesnât look similar, but the description says âMangam Hwacha, an organ gun moved by a cartâ, and I can imagine that if all the team making The Conquerors had to go on was a brief description of one, they would come up with the War Wagon.
The AoE wiki suggests the appearance design of War Wagon is inspired by a sculpture of an ancient Chinese civilian chariot

Combining the design and its role (as a cavalry archer) in-game, I guess the AoC designers back in the day were just combining multiple things into one unit to capture the overall image of medieval Koreans using wheeled artillery in battle, instead of a specific weapon.
Also, the name of a Korean imp unique tech Shinkichon is also a type of Korean fire arrow rocket, so some suggested Korean Onager-line also represents Hwacha. Kind of awkward.
Reskin and rename the unit, remodel the carriage into Hwacha. Then give it a few cosmetic spears just like Thirisadai to represent the fire rocket arrows.
Keep one horse in front, if it needs to remain as cavalry archers, that way, we donât need to mess with the balance.
Then throw the old War Wagon into Scenario Editor.
I heard that the reason why they made the War Wagon instead of the Hwacha had to do with an inability to do the animation well enough.
Portuguese Sea Battles Volume I
Genuine question:
Did you wrote down the paragraph manually or simply copied from a digital book? Because Iâve been looking for that book so long but couldnât find it
Bought the Volumes on Kindle!
Got 1 and 2.
Im bringing this back, because its about time the Organ Gun gets removed as UU for Portugal.
Replace it with a Berço canon
Or the Aventureiros.
Organ Gun is much cooler than a Cannon.
Its nonsense. And its not.
It is only the Ports UU, because it was AOE3 Portugal UU. A mistake that need correcting.
Like i said before
And guess why? Because its was not widely used by the Portuguese. Its like having the Mongols with a ship as UU, because they have a lake somehwere.
