In terms of missing empires we have:

  • Kanembu
  • Songhai
  • Zimbabwe
  • Tibet
  • Ghana
  • Waris
  • Hausa
  • Tamils
  • Bengalis
  • Ghurids
  • (arguably) Rajputs
  • Jurchen/Manchu
  • Khitan
  • Georgia
  • Somalis
  • Swahili
  • Khazars
  • Kannadas
  • Uyghurs
  • Nubians
  • Mossi

And I think all of those would have more to add than Venetians. And thats without mentioning Javanese, Chams, Kongo, Benin, Yemen, Chimus and the other Indian civs that arent far away of Venice while having more potential for new gameplay

Just checked, Armenians cannot be in Manzikert unless you want to use them as a filler civ.

I just feel that Venetians are too close to in-game Italians and the more closely related Byz can still represent them well enough and arent that powerful to be added despite of that.

Idk, feel like theres better stuff to do

they could have a unique ship unit like the buzo and a unique mechanic that allows them to mass queue?

The mass queue is a cool idea (I guess) but the civ would still be an archer and naval civ with gunpowder bonuses.

And that sounds too much like Italians to me.

Some Anglo-Saxon units like proper axe-wielding housecarls (could be used as Varangian guards too) and Fyrdmen would be good.

Though Fyrdmen look like in-game skirmishers/spearmen already.

Where would europe be without venice to halt the ottoman expansion?

Good luck getting any of these added ever.

Rajput sates are the current indian civi rest is maybe if they break up india.

Are they not already included in Mali?

Wari already under Inca empire.Khazars too similar to current civis.
These would be decent options to add.

I think Javanese are already included in Malay.

The only missing civs in the Asia-Pacific region are Tai/Siamese, Chams, Tanguts, Khitans, Jurchens, Tibetans, and Nanzhao.

Manchu, Khitan could be added easily. Tibet could be added as either Tufans or Tanguts for sure (honestly I think people exagerate about it a bit) and Uyghurs could be Gokturks but I call them Uighurs because Gokturks isnt the most flashy name.

Songhai and Ghana maybe but that would be putting a higher standard to Mali than even what Italy had. These two had massive states of their own with all of them having

The other two absolutely not

Ghurids arent part of the core Indian region and you could argue that Bengalis arent represented for some dumb reasons if you wanted (Bangladesh not being part of India)

Javanese and Malay are two diferent peoples, but yes, in game Malay represent Java.

Wari arent under Inca (Incas are obviously the best option to use rn but it would be like representing 10th century Mayans with Aztecs), Khazars could have its own place in the game.

Tbh I totally agree those are most of the best options.

One main issue that can come while adding African civis is that they already did an expansion called African kingdoms, the devs did say they look at areas they haven’t touched upon.

I get that but at the same time it would be kind of dumb to leave African civs at only three. Particularly they did revisit Eastern Europe

Btw, by that way of thinking we only have a Middle Eastern, East Asian, Indian and American DLC

Also, they tecnically didnt touch Southern Africa and you could do an Indian Ocean DLC to add Swahili and/or Somalis, a middle eastern DLC adding Nubians and Mamluks as well as an Spanish DLC with Moors and Vlachs.

And what point would there be in adding Vlachs? (Rhetorical question, the answer is nothing) Moreover, the Spanish and the Vlachs had very little interaction with each other.

Many of these suggestions are completely unviable. Good luck getting e.g. Uyghurs into the game. Way to get banned from Chinese market. Same problem with Tibet. Stuff like Ghana already covered with Malians civ. And some civs like Swahili are just pointless to even look into. So Venetians are probably not that bad compared to that list. But I also agree that Italians civ is good enough to represent them in game.

Just add Wari and Tlaxcala and we’d get a non-Euro DLC that would calm down all the Euro-hater people. (and we would get some actual interesting civs, with real potential. E.g. The Tlaxcalans were the first natives in the new world to understand how to ride horses, could be basis for interesting mechanic in game)

We literally even already have a Wallachian campaign in game and there are yet many more interesting ones to be added, such as about Stephen the Great or Michael the Brave.

They might not have had interactions with each other but what unites them was the constant threat of muslim invasions and defending Europe against those where they could even though substantially outnumbered.

Big typo here. Meant to say Vandals (just to be clear I find Vandals very interesting but even i have to agree that they dont need to be in the game at all, just an idea for a loophole to add more African civs without doing a north African DLC.

I mean, if we were able to get both Goths and Spanish I think having both Ghana and Mali isnt that much of a problem.

And you can totally add Uighurs and Tibetans if you name them something else. Just call them Gokturks and Tanguts on China if you want.

Yeah Vandals would be interesting, could be a campaign material which puts the Byzantines as the main antagonist against Justinian. That could be pretty cool for a Campaign set in the ‘dark’ ages. We just need a second kingdom/civ to add from these early ages. Maybe Saxons could still be a good fit, they’ve been around after the collapse of the Roman empire already, but not the civ overall should probably also be made to represent the late medieval state. Could be a “Migrations” themed DLC or something.

Can add alemani or avars for a dark age dlc.

Personally I dont think we should go back in time for a dlc unless the civis getting added can represent new civis as well eg.alemani as swiss or bavaria.

To add Uyghurs into the game, you’d have to change their name to Huihu or Yugur or even Qocho (Gaochang).

And to add Tibetans, you’d have to change their name to Tubo or Qiang.

Otherwise, I don’t think there’s any chance they’ll be added.

Typo or mistake? Anyway Vandals are already vastly represented with other civs.
