Possible civilizations to add by number of campaign appearences

79 AD the Romans sacked Jerusalem and scattered the Jews all around the empire. Any Jewish majority civ in the AoE 2 setting wouldn’t really be a thing sadly, as there were ## ###### nation-states during the time period.

Khazars converted to judaism, however the scale of the conversion is still debated among historians

There’s also theological debates about it that I won’t get in to, also Khazars wouldn’t really work to represent the remnant Levantine Jews anyway.

Crusader states is crusaders ruling over the current population genoa venice is people living those cities so is it that odd of a civi choice?

Prussians also show up in one scenario.not the germans rather the pagan natives of that area.

Yeah that’s true, they would only represent judaism as a religion. It is probably the closest option we’ve got… The only another possible civ, that i know, are the Himyarites, who were also practicing judaism on state level

The ones I notice that could replace weirdly represented civs in the campaigns up to A&K (the one I’m currently playing):

Austrians (Barbarossa)
Buginese (Gajah Mada)
Chancas (Pachacuti)
Chichimecas (Montezuma)
Chimus (Pachacuti)
Dutch (Grand Dukes)
Ghanaians (Sundjata)
Hausa (Sundjata)
Javanese (Gajah Mada)
Jurchens (Genghis Khan)
Khitans (Genghis Khan)
Lombards (Barbarossa, Bari, Sforza)
Nubians (Yodit)
Scythians (Attila)
Siamese (Bayinnaung)
Swahili (Almeida)
Syrians (Barbarossa, Longshanks, Saladin)
Tanguts (Genghis Khan)
Tlaxcalans (Montezuma)
Uyghurs (Genghis Khan)
Venetians (Barbarossa, Sforza)
Vlachs (Dracula, Ivaylo)

Yes, its way harder to justify than every one of these. If they dont represent the native population and arent the ruling class saying they should have their own civ is silly

There’s an Austrian faction in a few other civs too, but what’s wrong with Teutons representing Austria?

As far as adding a civ mainly because of campaigns, this is the main one that comes up largely for that reason.

We need Vlachs for sure yeah

Not even because of campaigns, but we need Siamese for sure!

I like Lombards as an idea, but tbh i’d want it to be kinda like Franks where they have some elements of the barbarian Lombards and some from the high middle ages Lombards as well I think. I was thinking them as the second civ in a “barbarians” expansion that gives a Barbarian architecture set, Vandals civ, and a campaign for Romans.

Yeah I think using Franks, Britons, and Teutons to represent Crusaders like they do now is actually a perfect way to do it. They were just Frankish/Briton/German colonies in the Holy Land pretty much.

Nothing. Goths representing Austria, however…

I agree but I think a crusader civ makes more sense than an Israelite civ, and also its something that would see among the casual fanbase. At least theres a fairly important even if heterogeneous group we can call the crusaders in our timeline.

Theres just nothing to work with using Jews in the Holy Land

Wait where do they have Goths representing Austria? I thought it was always Teutons…

Oh, I didn’t catch that tie in, yeah I completely agree with that

The Barbarossa Campaign would become a campaign where we would play Allemanians, Bavarians, Franconians, Saxons and Teutons civs. Despite the possibility of playing brand new civs, this campaign would still be available to all AoE 2 DE owners - an opportunity to play and test new civs.

Maybe read this to end?

Cutting out a section of text and manipulating it is stupid.

It is already a campaign, no?

So you didn’t understand what was going on.

I feel like half of your civilization are not even civilization. They sound like made up names of some provinces of Germany.

Anyways maybe it’s just that I don’t know about them much.
