Proposal for a new DLC

I think you are maybe a bit biased for them. Honestly the Venetian representation isnt perfect (would rather have them over Poles, Helvetians or Bohemians who are already more or less well represented by Slavs, Teutons or Lithuanians and this comes from someone that finds the Husites extremely interesting) but I think that they are really not that necesary.

They are not included as they are Italians and they are already in the game. The AoE series always portrayed groups of people, not nations. So Dutch, but not Netherlands, German, but not HRE, Franks but not Francia. This way you have to worry less about how long a nation lasted and you can include more nations in one culture group.

Seeing that the latest cash grab dlc added Burgundians and Sicilians the devs kinda messed up by making it a possibility for subcultures to become a thing. So basically Saxons following this principe or indeed Venetians should be possible but we should rather ask ourselfs if it should and just regard the latest dlc as not preferable in the future.

They were a pretty important kingdom in their time. I think their inclusion was a great idea. We got a civ with some unique twists and also a nice/fun campaign out of it.

Burgundians were also pretty prominent and actually lasted for a very long time, longer than plenty of other civs in the game  So itā€™s not too bad to have them. Some people just think of Burgundy as ā€˜part of medieval Franceā€™ but itā€™s not really quite like that at all.

Anyway, I hope we get some new civs that are badly missing, such as Polish, Armenians, and Georgians.

Maybe we can all vouch for Lombards to be included  Although that is obviously not Venetia, the Lombard invasion of the Italian peninsula could be an interesting campaign to have in the game. Also because that time-period is not really covered in the game yet.

Elaborate pleaseā€¦

Sicilians were Italians or Normans of which both were already basically in the game.

Burgundians are French and also already in the game

The Lombards basically are the Italians civ, since the design for the Italians is heavily based on longobard originated cities like Milan, Genoa and Florence.

As for the campaign, it wouldnā€™t hurt, but onestly at that point the byzantines were to stretched to oppose any real resistance to them, so they basically abandoned most of their possessions.

My eyes hurt :frowning: Normans had a very distinct identity than those of their neighbours.

Indeed. But there are also other options. Like Charlemagne invading and conquering them. More like a defensive campaign sort of like the Aztec or Cuman campaigns

Normandy compromised still heavily of French people and the Normans themselfs were Nordic and basically Vikings. In both cases, they are not a people group/cultute, but a subculture. Same for Sicily, they are Sicilians, but are basically still Italians.

For some time yes but Serbia was in 13cen the strongest state of Balkan and established Empire
before that kingdom, and was the biggest producer of silver in Europe in 14cen.

Letā€™s see only three more civs being added to AoE2 with one of the examples being the Kurds. Another example being the Siamese.

You dont need to bump up all the old topics to share your idea on a serb civi.

Sorry for beign borring but, l love to share.

In actual France, you have Occitania, Provence and Brittany as valuable subcultures too
