They were indeed, although they did have a fair amount of autonomy as well. The Croatian civilization I came up with is primarily based on Croatia in the 10th and 11th Centuries, when they were an independent power of their own that halted the expansion of the mighty Bulgarian Empire, dominated the eastern Adriatic Coast, and fought the Venitians, Saracens, and Hungarians. Their army at the time was fabled to be extremely large. Culturally, the Croatians are pretty distinct from the Magyars, right down to their different ethnic heritage.
The Castle buff does reference the Croatiansâ success in protecting their empireâs survival during the Mongol invasions, however. The Mongols may have devastated Croatia, but their castle sieges were unsuccessful, prompting the construction of further castles in Croatia.
Yes, but Gunpowder units are stronger than Camels, against the things they are supposed to counter, so either the bonus or the UT, but both would be far too strong.
If anything, Siam was an Island nation, so perhaps giving their Cannon Galleons and Demolition Ships +2 Pierce armour would be better, in return for not having Fast Fire Ship. That bonus should only apply in Imperial Age too, but it would be not only very unique, but also buff 2 Gunpowder units that usually do not get many buffs.
Free Crossbow would be more fair. they could do a mean Archer rush, into Castle Age Xbows + Elphant push.
I swear some civ already does have Market working faster.
I like the idea of Georgan monasteries generating gold without relics, thatâs different and could be worth the investment.
I like the idea of Croatians getting a bonus from downhill, which would cancel out the normal disadvantage, though hill micro is so fun to watch sometimes! Iâm just unsure about the trade cog bonus. Itâs definitely a fun one! It might be either overpowered or useless depending on the map and hard to balance.
FurtherLime, I like your markets working faster team bonus. Again, unique and could help you set up trade quickly if you can afford it.
Good ideas guys.
I would swap the Georgian Monastary Gold bonus, for a Double Relic Gold bonus, to be honest, as it avoids the issue that the Feitoria has. Free resources is just too strong, and you would have to nerf them to uselessness, for it to even be considered. Something silly like making Georgian Monastaries cost additional Stone besides the Wood cost, so people would not just spam them like GLA Black Markets, and get walled up Infinite Gold sources.
Problem I see a lot with trickle tech ideas: what the enemy is supposed to do? Now youâve got infinite ressources by just clicking a button and the enemy has no way to stop it.
True, but free Gold from a pammable building would be OP.
Perhaps a unit Gold Cost reduction for each Relic inside, or just Free Herese and Faith, since those are the Monastery upgrades that cost the most Gold.
They would have weak Towers and Castles. the idea is that the Swahili used Coral instead of Stone, to build up their cities and fortifications, so it was a wasy to allow them to keep building Towers.
Castle discount bonus was already taken, and a small trickle of onevresource would not be OP, specially for a civ with bad Cavalry.
Still not so sure about Ratha unit. Unit feels very niche still. Make this unit like Konniks?
Elephants feels very lackluster. Imperial Battle Elephant upgrade? Creation time to +50%?
For Monks wish it get more range instead.
They can make it combo of Viets and Khmer bonus. For instance. Viet got the most HP EBC. Make it a bit less HP instead? Then we got Khmer who have the most attack make it have -1 attack when you get all upgrades?
Just gonna point out Elephants arenât that strong compared to HD now.
Those two would be better ideas (and quite strong)
Well, Keep with Arrowslits+Burning pitch would be quite good if you can have an infinity of them. I guess they would need to be Cuman level of bad to be balanced (and no itâs not like Portuguese. Yes they can potentially have infinite BBT, but you need to sink 20 pop slots in each feitoria first and wait for it to pay back its 250 g 250 s cost)
It counters 3 kinds of units and itâs even a nod to AoE1. I like it.
Ok, depending on its value it could indeed end up being not too strong, but the fact there is 0 counterplay is still bothering. Monasteries and Feitorias can be destroyed, not this trickle.
It is still an ALL resource trickle. Simple 1 stone every 3 secons trickle would not be very strong, specially for tower with no Masonry or Architecture.
So to get a Keep you would need to wait 125*3= 375 seconds, which is 6.25 minutes, while Portuguese have to wait like 14 min to get 1 bombard tower. They can hasten the process but they will have 40 pop slots wasted adn have to wait for all their ressources to come back (yes itâs all ressources. But market rates becomed bad so fast your âfreeâ wood and food (that you already have in excess late-game) will barely matter.
All of these are great ideas but some civi choices are already represented by others such as swiss by teutons croatians by hungary.
If I were to add more civis I would add more african and south asian civis like chola/tamil sinhaleese bengals deccani nigerian/kanem swahili kongo zimbabwe.
