I agree that the HRE is underrated, but their problem is mainly that some of their landmarks are onestly useless.
The age2 blacksmith isn’t bad, but the discount isn’t that big, and it doesn’t cover the infantry UT. The age 4 keep is useless since you pay the full price for something that won’t last against the actual siege, and the age3 barrack is literally useless…
In my opinion, some of the eco landmarks should be nerfed a bit, in favor of a buff for the military ones.
Dont want to be off topic, but while we are talking about HRE, does anyone know if they have fixed the men at arms upgrades yet? Do they still get worse if yoiu get both the two handed and mace upgrades?
I havent been following patch notes and I dont know if I should still be picking one or the other
It was fixed a couple patches ago.
Regarding the post, pretty clear OP doesn’t have too great a handle on the power of certain things like posting screenshots of Elzbach/slate and stone/reinforced defenses. Those techs and wonder are pretty bad in the current meta, the techs basically make your walls tank like 1 more bombard hit which is barely noticeable and emergency repairs is rarely useful in imp.
I personally think HRE is now in a pretty fine spot if one-dimensional since there is a huge power discrepency based on relics.
4 Relic Elzbach is a bug and shouldnt be in the game.
They have good infantry, but the civ is basically all infantry and eco and suffers similarly to Abbasids in that they are really vulnerable in feudal leaving them to often have mediocre winrates in certain matchups (they still perform horrendously bad vs the popular Mongols for example).
