Reworking the Feitoria

with potential for it to be seriously broken.

That is extremely subjective, I don’t see anything annoying about the Fetoria, it’s very rare to even encounter it in games at all.

Hm, well yeah, anything is subjective if you think about it. But you can’t honestly claim to have enjoyed the turtle games in recent tournaments, right?

I enjoyed the recent tournaments. I don’t mind seeing games that don’t quite play out per standard.

Moreover, people watching games and finding it boring doesn’t seem like a good reason for a balance change.

I dislike how OPs idea doesn’t try to fix the current feitoria design to fit in the game better and instead just completely replaces it with a holely different thing.

I don’t dislike your suggestion per se but I am partially fond of the flawed feitoria we have had for half a decade now and would want to see it fixed but still recognisable rather than compeltely changed.

Remove the Ressource trickles compeltely is a no go in my opinion.

Okay, so at least one person enjoyed it - nice for you, altough i find “play out” a bit of a weird expression for an hour long nothingness

However, i have to strongly contradict your second point. For most people, watching pro tournaments is the only way they will ever see feitorias as the building is hardly ever used and islands (the only map the building has a place) is often not even in the 1v1 mappool and gets banned often if it is. So people watching it and finding it boring is the only legitimate reason to change the feitoria because it simply is the only interaction people have with it.

I’ve rather been tuning out of some tournaments because all the games kinda started to feel all the same. I’ve enjoyed HC4 a great deal. Especially good work with the maps for the main event. Was good to see some unique games play out. As for the Fetoria specifically, I’ve really really enjoyed the fact that some players actually managed to use it for something. In most games it’s a suicide move to actually build these things. So seeing it actually work on the highest level game-play was mind-blowing.

I’ve also won some games with Fetoria, and not only on islands, so it’s not completely useless, but it is very situational. But there are many units and things in the game that are almost never worth making, or even never worth making at all, so I don’t want to single it out too much :frowning:

I guess my first paragraph of this post and the second point refutation of your previous post tie in together. Different people find different things boring, so that’s why I don’t like it as a justification to remove something.

indians? But I agree with you

People dont like to lose against stallinf feitorias, but that’s the point of them.

I actually like OPs suggestion, I think it could be tweaked a bit for balance, but seeing the feitoria as a TC replacement in imp that boosts eco productivity is interesting. That said, I think some people are blowing out of proportion how “OP” it would be.

Think about this, you’re not building them till imp, so if there’s gold/stone on the map your’re only giving a small buff to gold/stone collection in the late game. The main area it will buff is farms, and only a few that you fit around it. Remember, you’re only getting the x1.1 on resources dropped off at the feitoria, so it’s not like a lumber camp or mill that you can build closer to your farms/woodlines.

So all in all you get a brief buff to gold/stone in imp. A brief buff to wood collection till the woodline moves too far away for it to be beneficial, and a long term buff to 8-20 of your farms. None of this is nearly as good as multiple existing bonuses in the game.

I see where you are coming from and this is an often mentioned talking point nowadays. However, once we accept this position, we may as well delete this forum.

A game has to be enjoyable. Different people find different things enjoyable, but there are a) reasons WHY someone finds things enjoyable (and you clearly have your reasons to enjoy feitoria camp fests) and b) indications of what most people find enjoyable. If most people (and as far as the feedback for HC4 goes, its an overwhemling majority) think feitorias are annoying in island games and we accept that there is hardly a place for them outside of the one map, there is no reason to keep the feitoria in the game.

This would be an accurate description if both players are portuguese. But if only one, I think it creates more of a dynamic to a game. 1v1 islands games where wood runs out and there’s no Feitoria are actually much, much worse as the game just grinds to a complete halt. So I think it’s a good thing to have in the game. If you’re playing against it, the stakes of making a successful push are higher, and when you’re on the defense, building your fetoria, there’s much more excitement in making it work.
