and you haven’t tested squat. 1 game dude. one game is meaningless unless you can clearly demonstrate why the pike was encounterable so not better explained by the other team doing smarter things, or enemy team not already making choices that cost them the game. this is literally 101 how to show something is OP. just posting random screenshots of end game? how bout you post the game then. thats how nomrally people start these is post game, let others see if they can cook counters, then test counters, then report back.

tbh we need a ā€œventing/therapy/soapboxā€ tag if you just want to make a statement, vs a ā€œdiscuss/test/balanceā€ tag for those trying to seriously debate and see if they can move the meta along or really nail down whats op

its team balance, in theory a lobby of high level team players would face off several times. something that sadly our current pro community almost never does. old esoc/EP days this was standard as with what we’ve seen here, people just claiming stuff doesnt really solve things. at best it can highlight grievances but long gone are the days where pros would stream publicly scenarios and try to cook up solutions first over dozens of games at times. Anmd i think the balance issues we have seen are largely due to modern aoe3 just people trying to shout over eachother instead of actual parsing through things. But I like being the gadfly, and hemlock can taste good in the right wine, so I poke at this modern way of thinking :stuck_out_tongue:

Due to several months no patch, I can only watch and play less and less games…
However it is just fun to see lame civ making people piss off. People can’t do anything against Sweden pikes. 21

I don’t mind most people are just showing how low winrate Sweden is or if dev cares about it, Sweden age 4 Jaeger and pike are just supre game ender.

In fact people who thinks Sweden is UP, should try the pikes, please give up caro and hakk. Pikes leads the game and you guys will enjoy it.

Please interpret this as a genuine question and not me being a ######## or defending sweden, but why wouldn’t you just make hospitals into pikes, as they’ll beat them much harder and scale much better than xbows (which are hot garbage)

I rarely play the game recently and above picture is also not me in the game. I let this theme sink already and winraqocha9917 bring this up, I just have this game saw so post again.
People who faced Sweden pikes and Jaegers were saying this.

I just think this is not good to the game if balance is still considered in this game, dev can try it.

how does one loose vs sweden on a map with water, torp natives, and extra wood chopping as a civ with good xbow production great water theres not much coin for torps and amazing scaling due to age4 pikes is my initial question? Given there are not really good malta players atm, ima guess malta player here made some mistakes or got outplayed or didnt take advantage of everything which ofc given how complex games are in aoe3 is expected as even ā€œgoodā€ players (assuming they didnt get high elo just abusing stuff) will take 100s of games to really get comfortable with a civ. One of the biggest barriers to a competitive scene is how complex this game is after all

Chat iq always 2-3x that of playing aoe3 iq but like damn this would not be the example id stake my thesis on Which is why most people prefer a blend of opinions, many games and many stats together when trying to demonstrate ā€œOP or notā€ which is beyond the motivation or likely cognitive ability of many aoe3 players which is why these types of discussions are so hard to have

I don’t know why you need to upset when someone complain Sweden, this is not even me.
The game inside in my previous record are just showing ā€œStop spamming dump pikesā€ or ā€œThis is why people leave aoe3.ā€ which is referred from my rarely watch the gameplay.

This is totally no relationship between the fact that Sweden is bottom.

Even so, there was one reply before has Revnak public stream, he was in my team and my opponent was Sweden pike jaeg. Unfortunately he didn’t see the game data in that game, Sweden was whole game under my pressure with the lowest vils but best eco, after age4 pike Jaeg easily push back.

But it doesn’t matter, I need to show Sweden pike Jaeg to defeat all pros to prove it is OP.

I agree with high level players on most things and always lead with the fact I’m an experienced but only moderately above average player - I do find they can be myopic on situations like this and insist on making ranged infantry that cannot kite speedy pikes, nor stand up in melee. Its unfortunate to see it become a balance issue but I would be curious to see if the results remained the same with a player teching into hospitals and fire throwers and not 4 speed trash units

The problem to the pikes now are they combine several points together.

  1. The units those counter pikes, are lower speed than pikes, units with higher speed than pikes are being countered.
  2. Too cheap, 50 res.
  3. Can siege.

If hospitals or fire thrower have above features they will be disaster too.
