That was never my idea.
It should be a completely unique set of skins if it’s sold.
That’s fine. I would prefer them to be free too, I just said that surprisingly many people would even be willing to pay for them.
The Minecraft crossover makes sense from a marketing standpoint, you can generate more sales for both games if you raise attention of the other one.
Also making a unit skin doesn’t cost much development resources.
AoE3DE got lot of unique units skins in free updates recently, and that’s despite the game having 1/5 of the player base.
If AoE3DE can add 20 new unique unit skins in a free patch AoE2DE certainly can do the same too.
I really don’t understand why they haven’t at last changed the monks yet.
There are already monk skins for most regions in the game but they are just not being used.
And on top of that the monk already has one regional version for the Americans.
I think he didn’t literally mean that we should buy it, but that people showed a high interest in a variety of looks. That is, if people are even willing to pay, they will be even more happy for a freebie.
I don’t think that would change anything, 99% of AoE2 players deny the existence of AoE3.
Jokes aside, AoE3DE got cosmetic a cosmetic Hero DLC that you have to buy if you want it, so there is p residence for that too.
The more important point is that a lot of people want regional skins and a good part of those people were even willing to pay for it.
The willingness to pay will depend on things like price, quantity and quality of the final product too.
All regions in one 5$ DLC would be a deal that a lot of people would be ok with but 10$ for each region would likely be considered overpriced.
Alternatively they could bundle it with existing DLC.
Lords of the West → Western European skins
Dawn of the Dukes → Central/Eastern European skins
Dynasties of India → South Asian skins
Return of Rome → AoE1DE/RoR skins for Romans, Goths, Huns and Persians maybe
But then we would have to wait for them to make an East Asian, African, American, Central Asian and Middle Eastern DLC.
Central Asia could be part of the base AoE2DE since The Last Khans was too.
Edit:
You think I (or someone else) should remake the survey and focus on regional skins and how much people would be willing to pay for them.
My survey had a bunch of other maybe confusing questions.
This explains nothing. They could use this team for making real skins and ppl could get them in events earlier, and later everybody would get them. For example I got the previous year femi-nazzi stuff though I didn’t take part in it.
Don’t worry about it. I would prefer if people on this forum avoided real-world political discussions, especially of a divisive and inflammatory manner.
I wouldn’t. If people can conduct those discussions in a civilised manner, there would be no trouble at all. This constant pushing away of certain topics makes everything worse. It only sends the message that they necessarily have to derail into fights.
I mean I got some avatars from it. I just don’t use them.
Actually I mentioned this as an example of how event awards could be first for those who participate and later - for everybody. This is how new skins introduction could go. INSTEAD of square pigs and femi-event which made most of people just rage. Yes, I’ve read those comments in Steam.
Many of comments were deleted but many still stayed. Go to Steam, check AoE news, find a bunch of those from summer, about Minecraft event. Read comments. You will see that I AM “most people” in that case, if you know what I mean. This event was a disaster.
the vast majority probably dont care and therefore dont write comments one way or anoter. i dont think there are many people who are actual fans of these mods but ‘most people just rage’ is just nonsense
