Should the next DLC be: Slavs rework, Croats, Serbs, Romanians?

Can the offender who started this be punished beyond a warning?

AnywY on topic of just wiki the civ. A lot pf people do and if you get one historical aspect wrong they ram down your throat.

Like try an Eastern or South Eastern Asian civ with a slight deviation from precision and tou might get 2 guys having a history lesson… guys this is about having a fun GAME not precise physics of horses and conversion science

That’s a ridiculous thing to ask when almost all units are dressed the same no matter the civ and architecture sets are all shared between several civs. You make me think of the “Oh, You Love X? Name Every Y” meme.

Ok let me give you an example.

Here’s the difference between Malays and Polynesians

I asked something like this for all the German Civs he proposed.

Malay and polynesians are not a fair comparison as they are worlds apart.

I could have taken even more world apart example to prove how ridiculous his idea of dividing Germans is.

I don’t see how it would prove anything else than how much you’re arguing in bad faith.

They’re both indo-european and early Britons spoke norman French.

(Sry. My english is extremely bad)

As the number of civilizations increases, the number of unique bonuses and technologies will decrease. Currently, almost all kinds of bonus options aren’t available. Maybe we take bonuses from civilizations and give them to the new ones. Examples:

  • Armenians loses extra projectile galley-line bonus, Croats will get it.
  • Goths loses infantry discount bonuses, Vlachs will get it.

Or new, regional and global units have to be invented. The latter option would be the most reasonable. Here is some idas:

(Elite/Heavy/Imperial/Royal) Desert Rider → Royal Knight/Cataphract…(for african and arabs. Replaces knight-line) Skin like: Sundjata | Age of Empires Series Wiki | Fandom

  • Desert/Sahara/Tribal Lancer for african, arab civs. Skin like sumanguru: Sumanguru | Age of Empires Series Wiki | Fandom and/or quizilbash warrior, Shah Ismail | Age of Empires Series Wiki | Fandom

  • Tribal/Steppe Cavalry Archer/Hunter for eurasians, nomads. Skin like Osman.

  • An regional Camel Archer for arabs, africans

  • different elephant units for arabs africans…

  • Transport wagon, Suppy Cart for nomad civilizations (mobile dropsite for all resources, replaces mining camp, mill, lumber camp…)

  • Ballista Tower for Romans (or maybe more)

  • Kreposts/Fortresses for all civilizations. Mercenary units could be trained here. E.G: Romans can train Tarkans but more expensive.

etc etc…

Unfortunately, it’s currently almost impossible to actually come up with unique bonuses for units in the current.

So very superficially… (Cause of course you need to read stuff to understand a culture, not a couple of different looking images right?)

Bavarians

Alemans

Suebian warrior (with typical suebian knot)

Frisians (Netherlands)

Swabians

Etc

Ps: I swear they exist, it’s not AI generated!

Gurjaras, Bengalis, Slavs, Byzantines, Persians etc all speak Indo-European languages as well.

Britons did not speak Norman French. Their rulers did.

Precisely. They are all separate civs. Just like Mongols and Khitans should be.

Fair.

Khitans have more than enough differences from Mongols to be added into the game, both ethnically and from a geo-politically standpoint.

We split Europe up in a nuanced fashion, why not with a Central-Asian suggestion?

Slavs are fine

After definitive edition and dawn of dukes DLC with Bulgarians, Bohemians and Poles, there is no need to “rework” Slavs further

Its the complete opposite slavs umbrella makes no sense now with three more slavic civis alongside it.

True, it’s like having Goths, Teutons and Germans in the same game. Since we already have Bulgarians, Bohemians and Poles. A Slavs civ makes no sense.

…how is Aragon related to a Slavs DLC concept?

I’m fine with leaving the “Slavs” civ as is (though i’d like to see its name changed to Rus but whatever) but I would like to see a Serbs civ and a Vlachs/Romanian civ (isn’t Slavic but slots in nicely here) ngl I think South Slavs are still kinda under-represented in the game; even the Bulgarians civ has some Turkic “Old Bulgarian” theme to it.

In my understanding, the Khitans are a Mongolic tribe. They simply created a dynasty on their own and became somewhat Sinicized. What we understand as Mongols (and in the game) was a confederation of many Mongolic tribes, including the Khitans, which arose as a ruling dynasty in China after the Khitans. Today, Daurs are the most closely related ethnic group to Khitans and they are considered to be a Mongolic tribe and they speak a Mongolic language. So I do not see much merit to having Mongols and Khitans as a civ. They are covered by the Mongols. To me it’s like splitting the Teutons into Bavarians, Swabians etc.

If you disagree with the above, that’s fine. If you want a Khitan civ that’s also fine. All power to you.

I think it’s important to mention that the Daur people switched to the Mongol language, they no longer speak Khitan. So, #### #### #### ######################

That’s already a big difference, enough to be a different civ in my opinion.

As someone who badly wants to Serbs added, i’m completely fine with this :+1:

As per this video only serbs are missing who worked as auxiliaries or mercenaries for the byzantines.
