Should there be new expansions?

The civilizations I think should have elephants are the following.

Current Civilisations
Carthaginians
Egyptians (more accurately the Hellenistic ruled Ptolemaic Dynasty)
Persians
Macedonians (more accurately the successor kingdoms of Seleucids and Ptolemaic)
Shang (There is no historical records of the Sang Dynasty using elephants but there are records of later dynasties of the southern regions using them such as the State of Chu used elephants against the State of Wu in 506 BC and the Liang dynasty December 554 AD, the Liang dynasty used armoured war elephants, carrying towers, against Western Wei)

New Civilisations
Askum
Vietnamese
Maryuans
Chola
Funan
Yuezhi

I agree, they were the main rival of Rome during thier early years, Big part of history.

(Edit): Any civ which made a big part of history that wasnā€™t included in the game should be added.

Befor they make new civs they should personalize the ancient civs more, in my opinion. Special skins for special units or buildings for example. For instance extra skins for egypt priests and chariots or chosons legions and towers or babylonic towers, etc.

If they donā€™t give new civs least reskin some of the old civs for diversity. Weā€™re not asking for much.

And they should balanced the units a little bit.

Why? Itā€™s only Age1.

New civs, campaigns and units would be awesome. Iā€™m still waiting for celts, gauls, germans, nubians and indians (just to name some of them).
Also they could add some more features, like battle formations or unique units for every civs, since the auto-reseeding farms we havenā€™t received nothing new.

I do not know know where to post this but Civs like Mayans and those without Stables should have one. What they can build there is the mounted pikeman and skirmishers. They mount on donkeys to make it work. I am referring to Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition and I hope the devs hear this.

Olmecs, Teotihuacans, Maya, Moche and Nazca could work for America.

You have to make a discussion in the AoE2 discussion.
Also I donā€™t think that itā€™s a change that weā€™ll ever see.

It would be stupid to put American civs in AOE 1, because in addition to having the same Greek units, they are worlds that never crossed paths. AOE 1 deals with the Mediterranean and Mesopotamia. Not even East Asians are very consistent. If I added something it would be Celts, Gauls, Parthians, etc ā€¦

It would also be too stupid to put stables and cavalry on AOE 2 Americans, when having no stable is one of the few things that makes them different from the rest. Donkeys? Donkeys did not arrive until the conquest of America.

All you have to do is ask for Aztecs with samurais mounted in war tanks.

Exactly. Adding something different would destroy the setting of the game, making it lose its iconical identity.

Honestly I want unique units for the already existing Civs. And some changes here and there, not just building/unit/tower limitations and differences in Tech Trees like in the classic 1997-8 game.

But seems unlikely, unfortunately. Updating the existing content would make more sense. The AI and UI could get both some love, and quality of life tweaks.

Iā€™m glad this game has stayed as close to the original as possible. I wouldnā€™t appreciate new civs, unique units, or gates for that matter. The changes they have made have been tasteful i.e. walkable farms, unit queues, etc. Iā€™m happy to be able to play a somewhat modernized version of the game I enjoyed in 1997.

The Han, Parthians and Romans did interact. As did the Indians.

There is a mod for the Indiansā€¦ Sadly itā€™s not official and wasnā€™t included in the Definitive Edition. Would love an expansion for them, honestly. We have Yamato, Shang, Romans, Hittites, Babilonians, so why not Indians? Would be really cool with new buildings and maybe new unique units.

But honestly I want mod support more. That way, we could modify and create our own civilizations, to our liking.

I think it is best we stick to the old world.

Shang says hi man, Shang represents the ancient China

Qin says hi. China is named after me.

This game is already dead so no use in discussing about this.
Just for fun there should be
Celts Germanics Sarmations Darcians with a barbarian buildset.
Mayurans/Guptas Pallawas with an indian buildset.
