Yes and that’s why I don’t like playing ranked now. Can’t even get a quickplay game because everyone is on EW (I’m assuming?)
Quick play wasnt really alive at any point in time. It might survived a week. Afterwards you already had queueing times of 15+ minutes. It was a terrible place by design. Games are even more unbalanced then ranked. Quick play was never an option. Even this all the smurfing ranked is superior.
And smurfing isnt really an issue on the 1v1 ladder, so you might enjoy playing some ranked 1v1s (RM or EW).
I will probably do some EWs because its so fresh, smurfing wont matter
We already suggested something that could fix this :
do not use simple average of rating, but an adjusted average, taking account of rating dispersion of players.
We suggested two different ways of doing this.
method 1 :
team rating = average rating + k * standard deviation (k a number between 0 and 1)
with k = 0.5 : a team with 1000 and 2000 will get 1750 rating instead of 1500.
method 2 :
team rating = ∆ log(AVERAGE [ 2^(x_1 / ∆), 2^(x_2 / ∆), 2^(x_3 / ∆), 2^(x_4 / ∆) ] ) (where ∆ is a number that can be adapted to our needs)
with ∆ = 400, a 4 player team with 1000,1000,1000,3000 will have a rating above 2200, and a 2 player team with 1000 and 3000 will have 2600 team rating.
these ways of adjust team rating calculation have been suggested in Analyses of the ratings - Spotting the issues - #221 by ReanuKeeves00 BEFORE the last modification (this modification was still a huge improvement, but with flaws)
these ways to calculate team ratings do not affect much teams with players of similar ratings, but will give teams with huge differences of ratings harder opponents than they have now, and thus limiting the current exploit.
It happens a loooot lately
There’s should be a “anti-smurf” system which bans the smurfs players and PREVENTS to play Ranked mode to ruin the other mood/fun to other players, and if he still playing (aka playing from a early/mid match) after the ban was made (unless hes not playing), the game forces to quit him from the match (like if he was disconnected) and make the match uncountable: nobody wins/lose elo and makes a draw match or revoked.
And for those affected users who played the smurf before their points were taken/given back (depending if the player played with the smurf against/with)
Every other game is not that often? Being 2v1’d is soooo fun thanks.
Asians smurfs, again and again and again…
I am not in favor of lobbies for 1v1s, but maybe there should only be a lobby system for team games? It seems like the root cause of the issue is that matchmaking is not dynamic enough for team games with this many smurfs
The match-making system should be more intelligent and put win % and not just rating into the equation. Obviously, a 2500 with 85% wins is going to be stronger than 2700 with 40% wins but the system will assume the 2700 is stronger.
As long as they do something. The current system is untenable. I stopped playing tg with randoms altogether, only 1v1 and lobby games now.
It’s just no fun playing Smurfs
might be off topic but it’s happy to see this smurf team is beaten by us (we are all random solo players)
stopped their 16 continuous wins
It is actually simple to solve this Elo manipulation - calculate each individual’s Elo change based on average of opposing teams. This way if you partner someone of significantly worse Elo, then you won’t have any increase in yours when you win.
And obviously normalise results to ensure that Elo gained / lost in a match is correct (average 15 per player, for example)
is there any news that the official going to stop this toxic thing?
I am kind of surprised it’s been several months and they are doing nothing.
Last time i posted, the highest elo was 4000 due to smurfing. Now, its 5000. Nice going guys.
Can you explain this in more detail? If the Elo change is calculated based on the average of the opposing team, then why would it matter which Elo my teammates have? In particular why would you get less Elo if you partner with someone of significantly worse Elo?
Blocking Family Shared accounts from playing Multiplayer would be an interesting idea.
Because if you partner with a low Elo, and match with a team of vaguely similar average Elo to your team, your Elo increase will be much lower and your low Elo teammate’s gain will be much higher.
The devs rather ban you for Alt+F4 and force you to play maps that you dont enjoy and sell new civs than fixing the games match making system elo. 11
come one devs, you are doing bull ■■■■ baning people for alt f4, and dont solution the smurf manipulation, its simple, a family share acount cant play on multiplayer.
