Some of the things that should be addressed (as of may 10, 2025)

Your assumption doesn’t make sense, mate. Omg, this forum is really delusional. Reviews don’t indicate anything about sales numbers. It’s just people who wanted to leave a review, and that’s it. You think only 474 people bought this DLC, then? Oh wait, you and some folks around here may think that since you guys are delusional because of your hate for this DLC.

Besides, considering the hate the DLC garnered, it was obvious that some folks around here and there would review bomb the DLC, even if their feelings are legitimate. Even then, it’s only 47% and 231 negative reviews. So, you tell me that 231 people will dictate and force the devs to move these civs into chronicles? That’s why I’m saying you’re delusional.

If I may, add a unique ship to the Italians with the flag of Venice (it can be a substitute for the Elite Cannon Galleon or the Galleon, model that already exists in AoE3), and change the shield of the Condottieri to something Papal.

And if they’re feeling generous, other civilisations would also need a re-dubbing

Then what about videos on 3K civs that get thousands fewer views than ones about Khitans/Jurchens?

Remember that negative reviews are people angry enough to buy, refund and leave a negative review. A lot LOT more people simply do not buy and move on.

Not to mention that even some of the positive reviews are actually negative in their content. Mentioning that the 3K civs should be in a Chronicles mode, and not ranked. They just had other reasons to give a positive review.

I would like to ask a request. I would absolutely love to have more coop campaign to play with friends. Maybe all the campaign should not be in coop but at least some more.

They can have the galeass/heavy galeass as a war galley/galleon substitute : a heavy galley armed with gunpowder (for the heavy one), still balanced around being the workhorse sea superiority ship as the galley line is. As galeasses are mentionned in Lepanto.

About the condottiero, they aren’t supposed to be papal guards but the mercenary companies that everyone and their mother hired at the time, more efficient than paying a standing army all the time. So keeping a generic shield is fine.

(I could ask for them to have several skins as it’s already the case for the villager, each with a different shield so you could make the look vary so you then could have shields representing several italian States, but this would be me being greedy as usual when it comes to asking for more skins)

More co-op campings would also be great. I can’t remember the last time the added one.
Most are already adapted to co-op by fans, they just need to add the script to display the cinematics and add them to the interface.

But i agree that right now, the number 1 priority is to move the 3K to Chronicles and work on architecture sets.

You can even just sit back and let us do the blueprints for a DLC.

A Chinese DLC ? Done, within an hour you’ll get what’s most wanted. A Barbarian Invasions DLC ? Same, a thread came up with a good concept to start with (what civs to add and how to broadly design them, what campaigns to put…). All you’ll need is taking notes.

What are you talking about in terms of sales numbers? I’m saying that if even among people who bought the DLC, half of them are negative about it (assuming the reviews are representative of people who bought it), and among people who didn’t buy the DLC their attitude towards it is even more negative (which is a reasonable assumption because many people are pissed off about the DLC and wouldn’t even buy it just to get Jurchens and Khitans), then overall the attitude towards it would be worse than 50% positive

Mate, I’m not a huge fan of this DLC either, but I’m trying to be realistic here. Being delusional won’t get us anywhere. Let’s say all those reviews, even the positive ones, demand these civs to be in the Chronicles, even though that’s not the case here. That still makes 500 people at best. Let me ask you the same question, then… Do you think only 500 people bought this DLC? My argument was a rework of the civs for finding the best middle ground, but putting them into Chronicles, whether you hate or love the DLC, won’t happen. If you think they’ll put them in the Chronicles after selling the DLC with the premise that these civilizations will be in the ranked mode, then sorry, but you’re delusional, too. That one may cause a bigger spark than many fusses people created about this DLC, and no company will risk such a move since they sold this product with a certain premise whether you like it or not.

Btw, hotshot returned to me without understanding anything I was telling to him. He still thinks those reviews indicate smth about the sales numbers, but no, they don’t. It only and only means that 500 at best people wanted to give a review. He cannot even understand smth basic, yet here I’m, trying to discuss. Eh, I’m wasting my time here, you guys believe whatever you wanna believe. If you wanna be delusional, be my guest, be delusional, but when no one from the developers doesn’t give a damn about your extreme emotions without finding any middle ground, then don’t be disappointed.

What’s up with you guys acting as if the illogical outcome, that devs ignore everything and remain stubborn in their ways, is to be expected? It’s not a law of physics or something set in stone. They screwed up, they had some smartass idea that they announced once and then immediately got backlash that they most likely didn’t anticipate, and they can fix it! They’re not inelastic, hard-coded robots who must keep the trash in the game just because they misunderstood their customers and made one announcement

I already answered this.

Just looking at negative review numbers alone does not demonstrate the number of people upset with this DLC. It’s more than 500 that bought it, but it’s also more than that which are angry/disillusioned/don’t care anymore about AoE2/the DLC.

I’ve already stated multiple types of compromises that can be done to keep people who have bought the DLC happy, while also banishing any sign of the Three Kingdoms from ranked. I know just asking them to be chucked away alone is the least likely option, which is why I have been presenting alternatives, and am even working on one myself to demonstrate how it can be done on a technical level.

Disliking a bad product is a mental illness now?

Yes, of course, but you can put the symbol of a particularly famous company. I am sure there is plenty of choice. Like, the Bande Nere of Ludovico di Giovanni de’ Medici and so on.

I get your point, definitely, but this is such a minor tweak compared to most other points. The other points go in hand with the spirit of the game - this change is so insignificant visual change compared to the rest, that it’s just better not to include it as of now at all, just so that the important factors remain highlighted, and the less important ones could come after the rest is done.

Additionally, I think it would be better if we got a more historical rework of the original and other early factions, because the latter additions are definitely more historic than classic civs. I’d even say that we could completely rework ethiopian siege - like the ONLY civ in the game with a full siege workshop, as well as a massive siege power boost, is a civ that never excelled in siegecraft, not even close. And I find this worse than aztecs running around in full plate armored champions, or huns boasting full plate late medieval infantry - after all, some steel is much easier to make than steel plated siegecraft firing high explosive munition.. Instead Ethiopians could get e.g. more powerful infantry or something. Anyway, even that is so unimportant compared to the rest, so I did not bother to mention that, nor tons of other nitpicking issues.

Yes, and let’s change the centurion’s unique ability while we’re at it.

yeah, and Monaspa’s, too!

Neither the aura abilities nor the passive resource generating bonuses are interesting.

The first one adds unnecessary complexity and forces you to keep track of additional stuff. The second one goes against the nature of the game. You’re supposed to fight for resources, balance your economy, and expand. Not passively sit and generate infinite resources out of thin air.

Anyway, it’s not my primary concern since I never play with civs that have these kinds of bonuses. But I’d be happy to give it a try with Romans if the aura boost was removed and the bonuses were given to Legionaries.

Absolutely perfect list. Please devs, listen to this, this is absolutely perfect, and ties all the issues together…

Most problematic issues are 3K in ranked play and heroes.

And may I add two: Khitanguts and Feitorias.

Can I add: a thorough water rework. This would take some planning and adjustments, but it would be amazing to have water be really fun and diverse, not just a supplemental aspect that many players avoid.

I believe they have tried to replicate the effectiveness of Ghulam in numerous battles more than Letis, although it has left many people doubtful. And speaking of Ghulam, it is difficult to make the uninitiated understand that it is not a shock infantry like the Eagles, but that it is practically a Huskarl.

I think T90 has been preaching for years about at least changing the order of the icons in the dock.
