So we got civ lists we got the region units let’s make the civs together all you modders and artists and campaign makers let’s work together
I hate this artificial pseudo-conservatism of the design. They’ll keep names of civs or even units unchanged in order to cater to nostalgia of returning players, but won’t even allow us to load an earlier patch if someone really wants to play an earlier version of the game.

Would “Mamluks Raider” and “Royal Mamluk Raider” sound distinct enough from the Mameluke?
I’d still prefer to rename the OG unit though, either into “Ghazi” or “Jambiya Raider”.

Call them Dervish since that would actually be a callback to the original Saracen name plan so it’s technically so OG it predates alpha builds and Jamibya could be for a civ where we can’t think of anything else

TBH Dervish would’ve been even worse name than Mameluke for this unit. Dervishes were Sufi ascetics, some took fight but more like warrior monks.
I’d go with either Ghazi (if after the split the civ becomes Bedouin/Adnanite coded) or Jambiya Raider (if the civ becomes Yemeni/Qahtanite coded).
The problem with Yemen being the Saracen is that it encompasses a very non generic Arabic faction and history involving the year of the elephant and the Jewish convert Himydar, and if Yemen takes aspects of Oman then it has some Persian influences from the Sawaran
If there were a Yemen civ I would absolutely push for a true Axumites and the campaign is the year of the Elephant and Abraha wars! So this would be the battle elephant and camel civ… at least the one that still has knights

I’d probably prefer a separate Axumite civ for Abraha, he was basically an occupier in Yemen 
IMHO the best option for a Yemeni campaign would be either Queen Arwa, or the whole dynasty that culminated with her (the Sulayhids)
When the dust settles a new era of civ crafters and modders can rise and make for the game and we can’t wait my turn in this rpg of life

Not sure whether WhiteMagick4 was referring to the same hints, but in the AoE3DE subforum, there is a discussion (see link below) about unused strings and models in the beta of The Baltic Powers, possibly future content that is still under development. The models (or at least their textures) were removed in the release version.

Alans are the most both civ for that you can think of, and they get to be Roman Euro and North African civ too
If the Genitour ever regionalizes they’d get that to go with steppe lancers mules churches Dromons and camels. Possibly Pastures

Stupid question but is that not currently already the case? Basically all games with user generated content have the same ToS that gives the platform owners all rights when you upload it to their platform.
Not sure how that will legally hold up in court but I don’t know of any famous case where that was tested. In some ways the developers need to do that to prevent overly aggressive copyright claims by users. Like for example if any new civ has any feature that a modded civ had before the mod creator could try to sue Microsoft. Or if they made a campaign with the same setting as a custom scenario.
This whole thing becomes a legal nightmare when people start uploading things that they don’t have the rights for.

Well, now with activition I wouldn’t be surprised if we get chaos warrios as a playable civ or dwarfs

There’s a different between IP rights and holding a patent for some kind of mechanic. Activision Blizzard owns Warcraft but they don’t own the mechanics in the mod that eventually became League of Legends since they didn’t have the rights to the mechanics of it.
But with Warcraft 3 Reforged they made it so they would own the mechanics of any mod created by the modders. So they can have a potential hit like LoL.
Yet somehow modders who make content like TriRem the makers of Chronicles when it was a mod and Cysion were mere modders/idea guys once upon a time. It would be in best interest to work with or alongside instead of just wholesale steal their brilliant ideas
