Splitting super unreliable

Using the split hotkey is extremely unreliable. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. Mostly with units standing still attacking it does not work as can be seen in the video.

if im not wrong the split is only supposed to happen when the units are task to walk or stand still, not when they are attacking something or busy doing something similar.

It is as BubblyMango3400 said. This has been the case all the time. You have to actively tell them to move after changing formation to make them use that formation if they are already attacking something.

Does absolutely not look like this is the way its supposed to work.

What viper is doing is very different from what you are doing.

You’re issuing a split command to units that are already attacking. They don’t move because attack has a priority over formation.

What viper is doing is pressing split, issuing a move command and almost instantly pressing stop so that the units resume fighting.

It’s hard to pull of and requires great timing, but then again, that’s the definition of micro.
