“Spring Tournaments Event” (May 21 - June 18)

Well, it’s a little late now, and that’s precisely why it’s good to warn everyone:

Since Seven Season premiered, “There has only been 1 event”, called Spring Tournament Event, with many prizes related to Chivalry and Jousting. The event will end in 1 week, and at the same time the RANKED time of the 7th season will end.

NOTICE: There are only 6 days left until season 7 ends. Seriously, remember that there are PRIZES for competing in ranked, be it a monument or loud mockery. Also remember that the event prizes take a long time to obtain through normal games: “For example, one of the prizes requires you to produce 300 knights or spearmen between games, it is not easy, unless you are playing with unlimited resources but it also takes time to time.”

The 7th season that started on March 19 is almost over… Or at least, the Ranked

This is important. What memories does this season leave us?

After many seasons of balance, which went from correcting the smoke caused by the units when moving “S1”, the rework and balance of the naval system “S3”, to the correction of the size of the Wonders and Landmarks so that they look imposing in “S5” (before some were even Dwarfs), we come with a season where for 3 months “there was no patch”, but it was compensated with a new game mode “FFA Dominion”, nerfs of many of the DLC civs and yawns for some of the classic civs.

Of course, there are still many requests to make the game even better ( What should Age of Empires IV improve?), from more fauna to more unique units, new civ suggestion concepts, and improving the anti-cheat system.

Although it is known that the company recently underwent a change of production company (SEGA vende a Relic Entertainment y despide a 240 trabajadores), I hope that for the new season there will be more events, or at least communication of an upcoming DLC.

Considering that Age of Mythology Retorld will be released in September, and the date of the AoE III:DE dlc is unknown, perhaps AoE IV DLC will be released in November like the last year to avoid competition between the same company.

Supossedly this end the same day of the Event, June 18.

Well, that’s what I wanted to comment on, as an extra I leave some “Philosophical questions”:

- Do you think the devs should increase the Ranked time?

- How many days do you think season 7 will last after ranked?

- Any theories about what would come in season 8?

I love this idea for a recurring thread! Having everyone come together in one place to give feedback on the season as it ends and talk about predictions for the future is a great addition to the community.

This last season saw the introduction of cross play between console and pc, and I’ve been loving it! I had some friends who weren’t able to get into the game because they don’t have a PC, but they do have Xboxes. Having support for quick play, ranked, and custom games (including mods, which was a surprise for us) has been awesome.

Guessing it’s going to start the next season within a week, probably run 120~ days (as it normally does) and we’ll see season end after Red Bull Wololo… so let’s say June 25 - October 23. I prefer 120 days, I had almost forgotten about the season ending soon and was expecting a July timeframe, now I’m grinding hard for a better rank :sweat: (I wrote this as a draft before the announcement, I have seen many people are not happy about this… but it does alter it to the previous standard.)

Season 8 has gotten teased by Corvinus as having features worth being excited for, but he never really says much (assuming because he doesn’t want to break NDA). I don’t know if this means that we’ll see more than standard rulesets in ranked, like Nomad, FFA, or even Empire Wars. I’m hoping for some reworks on civs, maybe even UU for HRE. Ayyubids will probably get a nerf, but who’s to say really. Byzantine hopefully stays exactly where it’s at, I think people are just starting to see how powerful it can be.

Improvements to Temple of Equality (Japan Age 3) are at the top of my wish list. It just doesn’t have the strength of its counterpart, and I really want to do something other than Floating Gate. Maybe Shinobi changes, something to give it a bit more use outside of feudal. I only ever use it on hybrid maps… and even then they don’t do much for me other than block docks.

Longshot, but I would love some co-op content, similar to the co-op campaigns in AoE 2 and 3. Really anything to expand PvE content. Not everyone I know enjoys the more competitive side of the game.

DLC better be coming in season 9 (early November, near the anniversary as usual) even if it does take away from the attention AOM: Retold needs. Because of that I’m not expecting anything groundbreaking for season 8.

Maybe more fauna? They did make some celebratory rewards about animals a while back. Would be ironic if AoE4 stayed the AoE game with the least variety of animals in such a case.

I’d like to see them either introduce new Unique Units again or shake up the existing ones. Units like Grenadier, Elephants and Cataphracts should not be nigh useless, and more importantly, should be more fun to use.

It is a game. Make it fun. The designs are too restrictive and they are putting too much emphasis on “competition”.

I would like to see in Season 8:

  • More fauna
  • More biome
  • Better anti cheat
  • Better replay and caster mode interface
  • Improved unit pathing

And in Season 9 (november):

  • DLC
  • 2 New Civs
  • 4 Variants

[NEWS]: Update: “Ranking Period extended until July 17th”

NEWS: Apparently the Season 7 time will be extended along with the “Ranked Solo” and “Ranked Teams” for one more month, 30 days longer than expected.

According to reports, this extension will last until July 17th, so we will have more time to improve our rank… or worsen it, hehehe.

Of course, the Jousting event is almost over. Let’s see if something happens closer to the end of the season.

I know that I published this 2 days after the note, but well, as the creator of the topic I wanted to make it official that the season was extended. In any case we are now officially a month before season 8. There is still time to request or theorize things for the new season.
