Killing the game with the task manager is the same that a crash, that’s why a punitive system wont work no matter what, also there wont any penalties for just dropping before the game even starts, trying to prove it was on purpose would be impossible, only way to truly verify it is by installing an intrusive software but that would be illegal and nonsense just for not accepting the MM for tg simple doesn’t work.
The WM_CLOSE message is still sent to the process, even with “end task” via the Task Manager.
Other ways to detect abuse could be to have the servers keep a count on how many times a user closed/“crashed”/"lost"connection while being in the state of a found match or during early match time and then start applying penalties after n times (n > 1 to give the benefit of the doubt if it happens once a day but if it happens regularly it’s clearly not a random crash but a forced exit).
in CSGO it doesn’t matter if you have a legit crash or use ctrl+alt+del, you will get an small punishment.
Not true at all, punitive systems aren’t zero-tolerance. Usually the first offense is free in order to account for things like game crashes/emergencies/other rare circumstances. This is enough to leave the punitive measures only for the actual abusers in the large majority of cases.
Crashes right now are super common for a lot of people and it sucks, personally my game crashes probably about once per session, usually mid-game after 30 minutes or so, where this punitive system wouldn’t apply and I’d just eat a loss.
Some games like Dota go a step further and consider leaving at any time before the game is over to be an abandon, which throws you into a lower priority queue with other leavers (probably unnecessary for a game like Age). League of Legends requires all players of a team to unanimously vote to resign after some time has passed instead of letting players resign one-by-one (which would also result in an abandon). Again, these systems aren’t zero-tolerance, at least not in Dota’s case, I’m not as familiar with League’s.
You’re right though, in some cases trying to prove it was on purpose would be impossible, but IMO not really necessary, if the player’s game crashes frequently enough to trigger a penalty, it’s probably a better idea to fix the source of the crash than to remove the penalty.
I don’t know if you or the other guy above actually play this game, but current DE is plagued with crashes…and the most important thing you are talking about games that have 10 times bigger active player base.
Yes, I’ve played several games on this patch, I understand crashes are currently rampant, I wish it wasn’t so.
I still think when things like this happen it’s simply better to address the root cause of the crashes instead of just not doing anything about alt-f4 exploits.
And I know the games I mentioned have much higher playerbases, but I don’t think that’s relevant when it comes to these discussions since the people that are alt-f4 are currently being excluded from most games anyway at the expense of others.
well and there should be still a zero-tolerance limit for atleast a point in the game where abusing alt f4 should be punished because mr zero tolerance over here quitt like 5 times yea its visable and he should be punished
Why are you so blind to the fact that i allready said there are 4 main factors but the only thing you care about is dodging games because of sh!tty maps or teammates and grief the game for your own purpose
i guess zero tolerance even with this amount of player is acceptable and alt f4 should be punished
Exploits and you really think its ok to give people like @SouMexican a platform so he abuses this exploit for his own sakes and being blind to everyone else he might anger with it ?
I didn’t say anything like that, you misunderstood my post.
ok fair enough but just pointed out someone who would Exploit it
I haven’t read this entire thread so I’m not sure if this idea has been already proposed, but how about changing the team game queue system so that if a player drops/alt+f4’s, the queue doesn’t reset for the remaining players, but instead a new player from the queue is picked as a replacement for the missing player?
I don’t know what’s hard or easy, because I don’t know how the code is currently structured. That’s the point I’m trying to make.
It could be 4 lines of code that takes 15 min to write, it could also be 500 lines of code that takes a week.
If it’s the former, they’ve clearly decided that that’s not the right solution.
Anyway, this is now an off topic discussion, forget about it.
Please allow people to have unlimited bans and to be able to select the maps they prefer to play. Forcing people to queue for maps they don’t want is a waste of everyone’s time.
The current system is resulting in longer overall wait times.
Lots of people leave Age because it takes so long to start a game. As someone mentioned:
9 queues, 3 games 2 of which were drops, no ty.
unlimited seems wierd maybe just an increase like someone suggest like 1 more for 4v4 and 3v3 i mean in certainly its the question how do you meassure once skill if he only plays arabia
and how long do you think would it take in average for 1 mappers to find a match?
- elo
- less than now
i mean what if they change the bans like i said and make it so there is a limit on which elo can play together for Tgs
A long time. On the other hand it wouldn’t be ruining things for people who want to play the whole map pool, like myself and many others.
i mean i am on the same side since i am more of an variety map player but there is no way TO Ignore it maybe this will fix the alt f4 problem and if not punishment is needed
I am here to comment 1500th reply. Nothing to interest. You can keep complaining the problem.
You got like 40 more comments in that case
