Some people are going to look at this image and tell me that they see plastic weapons. I completely disagree.
They are larger in proportion, they have flat even colors, they even appear brighter than the unit holding them. This is a design feature intended to help a player quickly identify the unit. Changes to this may inhibit that.
Yes, to call these “plastic” is subjective.
Sidenote: the player colors are fluorescent or neon. That is also to identify them quickly, a design choice meant to enhance gameplay.
Those swords and crossbows look horrible. I don’t know, you should buy glasses.
These weapons look like plastic. There is no shiny metallic texture at all. It is just a cheap plastic at its best.
Do you even know what is metal?
also ye this looks wrong regardless of where you look on the image, maybe ground gets a pass, everything else tho, just no, also didn’t catch the arrows into screenshot
i’ll ask constructively, yes you don’t see plastic like me and some others, so what do you see, i want to hear full perspective, dumping on people just isn’t the way
I said what I saw in my post. They are clearly metal, they are reflective in some ways. The wood does not have the sheen that the metal parts do. The thing that makes them look like toys is their size.
But they do not look ‘plastic’.
We don’t need to agree, what it ‘looks like’ is subjective.
For what it’s worth I only came here to offer a working solution. It wasn’t to prove myself to a blatant hypocrite.
This is metal texture!
You really need to study mate. You gotta separate plastic and metal in highschool.
Everyone saying that picture you provided is looking wrong and here you are denying.
Division of labour:
Some people try to appease those who criticize by picking one of the many criticisms they have (the one that is the most difficult to deny, e.g. weapon texture) and reluctantly admit it as valid.
Some other people go into stealth mode for a while and find another chance to debunk it.
Eventually there will be no problems with the game at all.
from art director himself: “we designed this game for native 4K and it looks beautiful, the rivers, the rocks, the trees”
anyone ever noticed we never criticized rock or stone mine appearance? because it stands out being almost higher resolution looking vs all around it, thats the kind of detail i expected across the board honestly
and new water mesh would be the same level if the maps lighting ever changed or they did reflections
