The Devs are still working on AOM Retold So we should expect a delay on DLC for AOE 3 DE!

nah, it will be another 3 months then they come out and say how it is a difficult decision to bin the dlc

Yeah, same, you didn’t have to be a Nostradamus to see it
they announced the DLC to have something for the Age event in 2024 but nothing ever happened because they were busy with Retold
their budget ran out and since they needed all the hands they could get to get Retold off the ground, they simply cancelled the DLC and pulled the trigger for AoE 3 so they wouldn’t have to worry about it anymore

Just seeing this now, wow spot on. They really, really, really dropped the ball on this on every possible metric known to mankind.

I don’t think they realize what shockwaves this caused in the RTS industry, people are talking about it on other forums not related to the AoE series. Like, it’s that bad.

As they should. This is a monumental betrayal and an extraordinarily stupid business decision. They cancelled a DLC they announced and teased for over a year for a stable game with a devoted fan base. AOE3 might look small next to AOE3, but it’s actually quite good for an RTS. If we compare it to Northgate, an RTS that released 2 years before AOE3, Northgard has similar reviews, a similar all time peak, and the base game sells for about the same price. Northgard currently has less than half the player base of AOE3, and they are still getting new content and updates.

What WE did is atrocious and everyone is going to notice. Good luck attracting new players to your other games when the entire gaming community knows you will kill off popular but niche profitable games just because it is a slight inconvenience.

Yes, I wouldn’t have cancelled it, I would have said to delay it to October 2025 for the 20th anniversary of AoE 3 and have CaptureAge join the team to make an European Chronicles DLC for 3 and release it all together in a single DLC pack
that would allow FE to work with more time and the Baltic DLC would come with a lot of content and nobody would complain and finally you have content until they release another DLC for AoE 3 in 2026 or 2027
now you have AoE 3 dead and AoM players worried about the future of Retold
who guarantees that they won’t abandon Retold too after the second pantheon?.. nobody knows

We used to call them trolls, now we know that the real trolls are in a position of power.

Most of us were naive to put faith in a company that wants to overshadow one of the best strategy games.

Except that they didn’t sound like a difficult decision, but “We lied. We understand you’re angry. So F off”

Yes, you missed the “if you don’t like it, play the rest of the games or leave the series”
