Elo means nothing, neither elo nor pr, do you still believe in fairy tales? Dutch is fine imo. Just think of how much resources they need to invest early on in banks ⊠350f 350w is huge in the first minutes of the game. Letâs say they build 5 banks. Meanwhile you have 3500 resources to spend in army and houses. And the Dutch revolt into South Africa is also fine. You can go Imperial and trade pretty well against Dutch armies. Dontâ forget about the age V Capitol upgrades to sustain your unit production.
This is a classic issue with all boomy civs, if you let them boom, you get disbalanced from ur track and eventually youâll fall!
Same for other boomy civs as Japan, Sweden, etc
While a mainstream game goes as :
(peaceForEco-ageUp-battle)-(PeaceForEco-ageUp-battle)-(peaceForEco-ageUp-battle)
Boomy civs tend to :
(peaceForEco)-(ageUp-ecoBoom/Defend-Battle)-(ageUp-ecoBoom/Defend-Battle)-(ageUp-ecoBoom/Defend-Battle)
So if u cant canât slow down their initial boom, when they are vulnerable, then later their better eco in background gives them a natural advantage and, eventually the their superior eco tends to overpower ur ec, as well as ur army!
So an early aggressive approach is better in such cases!
Man I canât agree. More they should have been nerfed a long time ago. The bank trickle rate should be reduced. It is nearly impossible to beat dutch with the banks being as strong as they (basically 8 or 9 blasts with a cannon), there OP gold trickle rate (in addition to factories⊠like what?), and theyâre cheap relentless ryters that canât be stopped late game. Not to mention they are strong enough to be offensive during the start of the gameâŠ
the only civs that can beat them now are African civs and Mexico
Since then all those civs have been nerfed. I do even see Swedish players anymore. And I should know Iâm level 110 with Swedes. Dutch need a nerf. Dutch have infinite gold from the start of the game meaning the opposition must play 100% perfectly to beat them otherwise Dutch will win by default. There arenât any civs which can do that besides the Dutch
If Dutch survives past 12 minutes itâs pretty much game over. Dutch mining gather rate bonus was reduced by 5% three or four patches ago, but theyâre still super strong.
Nerfs to Inca, Mexico, British, India, and China age3 are more pressing though IMO.
Letâs nerf everyone so that we can just have vil wars like in the old days of aoe2.
When the Dutch gave him that 5% mining bonus, because certain people argued that âthey were not competitiveâ, it was a huge mistake. They were advancing in age irrationally fast, and the gold dropping was too strong. Since they took away the bonus, now the Dutch are much easier to beat, it was a before and after, Iâll be honest with you. Itâs amazing that that little change made such a difference.
Personally, I think it is now a perfectly balanced civilization, letâs hope they donât add that mining bonus again.
Dutch are my 2nd civ most played, are tier s or A +, I prefer to nerf their echo and provide more aggressive options for rush, some competitive versatility, their way of playing is incredibly static due to the lack of delivery options, and of course because their gold pickup is OP and itâs always worth turtle / boom.

Itâs the best option though not the easiest with how many civs there are.
Dutch are not crazy op but each of their banks are worth 4 dutch villagers on coin(which gather more than normal settlers so each bank is worth more than 4 regular villagers) for a total of 20 villagers worth with 5 banks, the coin is unlimited and safe from raiding, the banks while expensive are not even hard to get built quickly because of them costing half wood and half food so you can leave most villagers gathering food and just ship wood and the bank wagon and the banks give 140xp each upon being built.
Itâs essentially another version of the brit manor boom being equal to 20 settlers with the positive being your banks are completely safe while brit vills can be killed and the negative being the banks can only gather coin while brit vills can be moved to any resource, which is not even a big deal because most of dutchâs units are high coin cost and also their settlers cost coin.
yâall, the dutch have been almost untouched for like, 15 years and were considered low tier for most of that. if youâre thinking dutch is op, that feels like an interciv balance or poor counterplay to me. dutch pretty much never has the wood to replace banks and has to train pikes age 2 which kills their fragile boom macro. (team games theyâre quite a bit stronger, unless theyâre the ones to get rushed first)
True, they were always like a B tier civ. They seem to be far better on DE than legacy though maybe due to meta changes and things being more boomy.
Iâd also say most people donât play at 1500+ ELO though, so maybe at higher levels itâs nothing special but for less skilled players it allows them to have a high coin income without worrying so much about idle vills and protecting coin mines etc things theyâd normally be punished for with any other civ. Itâs hard to stand and siege a 4K HP bank in age 2 too especially as theyâre always placed within TC range.
Iâd imagine their win rates quite high atm which is why we saw the coin gathering bonus reverted. Iâd personally like to see banks taking longer to build including the wagon so itâs not as easy to get them built as fast and maybe see some more aggressive play with dutch and not just 5 bank semi every game.
They got buffed in DE.
they got +1 coin crate and +1 bank limit. on the current patch i believe thats the only noteable changes. thats hardly b- tier to s+
No, they also get 10 more villigers. Not sure if gold gathering is also a tad better.
thatâs hardly noteworthy in 1v1, who keeps rotterdam and Amsterdam in deck and actually wins games lol
It is trivial to turtle as dutch and you get full eco before everyone else.
maybe the problem is terrible counterplay. if someone does that, you just go fast industrial and train a few mortars and then they lose their whole eco. turtling is laughably bad on aoe3

Para mi el problema es el aspecto competitivo, solo se puede competir de manera justa en igualdad de condiciones y solo hay dos manera de conseguirlo, ninguna es buena para los jugadores.
- Buff masivo. Si todos son OP nadie lo es.
- Nerf Masivo. Si todas las civilizaciones son malas ninguna lo es.
Yo prefiero un punto intermedio, porque me importa mucho mas que el juego sea divertido.
