The future of AoE2:DE expansions

  1. Silk and Spice Kingdoms: Tamils (Navy and Elephants, South Asian), Chams (Navy and Siege, Southeast Asian), Siamese (Gunpowder and Elephants, Southeast Asian), Tanguts (Camels and Monks, Inner Asian), Swahili (Navy and Infantry, African)

  2. Mountain Kingdoms: Georgians (Defensive, Caucasian), Armenians (Cavalry and Monks, Caucasian)

  3. Forgotten World: Haudenosaunee (Infantry and Siege, North American), Anasazi (?, North American), Mississipians (?, North American), Chimu (Infantry and Defensive, South American), Polynesians (Navy and Infantry, Oceanian)

That’s about it.

Lords of Silk and Spice and Mpountain Kings, were originally names I cam up with on Steam, for potential expansions.

They weren’t forgotten, there is just little to no recorded info of them

And Iroquois is out of AoE2 timeframe to even think of adding.

Also can i say how amusing it is to see the hypocrisy in these posts; people complain about splitting the ‘Slavs’ but then want India split into 6 nations. Where is your reasoning behind such hypocrisy?

  1. African Empires
Nubians (Archer and Camel civ), Somalis (Gunpowder civ), Zimbabweans (Infantry civ), Kongolese (Archer civ), Songhai (Cavalry civ)
  2. Forgotten II
Muiscans (Archer civ), Kanembu (Siege civ), Bengalis (Elephant civ), Yoruba (Cavalry and Infantry civ), Tarascans (Archer civ)

I think that additionally in this DLC, the Kurds could appear as such a bonus civ.

Great words. The same ones who say that they want 15 civ for India say that one civ is enough for Slavs (indeed, even Romanians are considered Slavs).

If India is to receive 15 civs, why can’t Eastern Europe get 6 civs?

Nope.

" The Iroquois League was established prior to European contact, with the banding together of five of the many Iroquoian peoples who had emerged south of the Great Lakes.[38][c] Many archaeologists and anthropologists believe that the League was formed about 1450,[39][40] though arguments have been made for an earlier date.[41] One theory argues that the League formed shortly after a solar eclipse on August 31, 1142, an event thought to be expressed in oral tradition about the League’s origins.[42][43][44] Some sources link an early origin of the Iroquois confederacy to the adoption of corn as a staple crop.[45]"

" The Iroquois Confederacy or Haudenosaunee is believed to have been founded by the Great Peacemaker at an unknown date, estimated to have been sometime between 1450 and 1660, bringing together five distinct nations in the southern Great Lakes area into “The Great League of Peace”."

So either 1142, or 1450, both of which are within AoE2 timeframe.

It anyway depends on how you understand civs. If they’re supposed to represent ethnicities (like the Celts civ), a civ like Iroquois/Haudenosaunee can represent the entirety of the Iroquoian speaking people which lets the civ as a whole trace its roots even further back in the past before the formation of the League.

In Vinland Saga you get those lovely looking Iroquois Warriors in North America.

I totally support the idea of North American Civs DLC. Just hoping it comes with a new architecture set.

Mesoamerican architecture on North American civs would look weird with maybe the exception of Anasazi but even then.

In AoE3, my favorite American civ is the Iroquois. I liked them thanks to the campaign.

Adding the Iroquois civ to AoE 2 is a trivial matter. We already have Iroquois Warrior in-game, just create Iroquois civs and add them there.

There are also other interesting units in the scenario editor that can be added to new civs.

The two most interesting:

Of course, the civilization of the militant Amazons is a myth and does not fit AoE 2. An interesting alternative would be an exclusively female civ, but that would be more suited to AoM.

TBH I don’t like adding mythical stuff to AOE2 where it doesn’t belong into, though more Female warrior casts would be welcome.

I’d like to see at least 1-2 South American civs in the game. It is most overlooked in both AoE 2 and AoE 3.

I also think the Mayans and the Aztecs will be enough for Mesoamerica. Better to focus on North and South America.

Iroquois

Infantry civilization

  • Lumberjack +10 carry capacity
  • Houses are 50% cheaper
  • Eagle Warrior free, Elite Eagle Warrior half cost
  • Outpost 2x hitpoints
  • Foot Units can garrison in Outpost (maximum 2, every Iroquois unit basically)

Unique Unit: (1) Tomahawk Warrior - medium pierce armor, great damage against Buildings, some bonus damage against Cavalry (2) Mantlet - Ram and Scorpion hybrid

  • Unique Technology: - War Chiefs: Military units attack 5% faster
  • Unique Technology: - Confederation: Upgrade Outpost to Fortified Outpost - weaker than Watch Towers but cost only 50 wood, so it is very spammable

Team Bonus: Outpost stone cost replaced by 25 wood

Campaign: Hiawatha

They are not actually magic units. They are simply female warriors. Maybe they don’t match your own campaign, much less Historical Battles, but it could be an additional civ for multiplayer.

Anyway, it’s Women’s History Month in the US right now, so it could be some kind of reward for missions during the event. For example, as a mod, changing the civ you are currently playing to Amazons civ The architecture would simply remain the same, and the Villagers would be all women. The units would be the Amazons.

Bonus overlaps with Woad Raiders

No, Elite Woads have +3 vs Buildings only, which is a generic number for every Infantry unit.

matters not, bonuses WILL overlap sooner or later and that is not wrong! Mixing some bonuses/different technologies between factions is not a terrible idea. I personally would see iroquis warriors having bonus against villagers rather than buildings, though, because the units would indeed be very similar.

It’s description says: quick infantry unit with an attack bonus against standard buildings that is produced very quickly.

There is no such thing as Villegar Armor Class and there are many units which two hit Villagers
