With the loosening of restrictions for adding new Gods/ Civilizations in today’s patch, do you think they are winding down AoM? Are they doing this knowing they themselves aren’t planning to add any more content to the game? ![]()
Very likely for the rest of the year no more civs, as the team is going back to aoe3. Maybe next year.
AoMR being the only game in the franchise I play, is it normal for other titles to go on ‘hiatus’ for a few months and have a DLC drop months down the line? Is the way AoMR was paced out typical of other Age titles?

That’s an average gaps between announcements/ releases was 66 days. Were we just spoilt with retold? They really did pump this content out quickly! It’s only been 66 days since the last release, and there have been some big patches since then, but I hope they haven’t lost momentum ![]()
Meanwhile AoE I killed and AoE III put on maintenance service.
Is there an update coming for AoE III? I haven’t seen an annoucement
Nothing has been announced. However, in the thread below, users monitor the activities seen on SteamDB. Since months, there has been at least one update in the update history for almost every weekday.
Therefore, an update is possibly in the works, but no official statement at all yet. Hopefully, there will be clarity soon.
Return of Rome is AoE I now, which is still alive…-ish…
It’s just speculation, as mentioned above.
Yes, perhaps because Microsoft pressured them too much to release content faster to boost AoM and they didn’t quite succeed, they kind of threw in the towel and are going back to AoE 3 (and maybe AoM won’t receive any more content or not as frequently as before, and if they had planned to add Incas to AoM this year, they’ll probably postpone it until next year and go back to developing the Baltic DLC for AoE 3, but for now it’s all speculation)…
Well… at most you’re left with the custom campaigns…
I’m leaning towards them being the first half in aom and the second in aoe3. So they can release content for both games on a yearly basis
well it should be certain that AT LEAST the 4th major gods for egypt and atlantean should come and ofc regular patches and bug fixes. the rest is obviously unfortunately uncertain and all speculation. but speakin of speculation: i hope before they really return to AoE3 or whatever they are planning, they at least should do the two 4th major gods and some more overhauls demeter asewll as patches.
(also in my opinion its more “certain” that celts or/and mesopotamian are coming than AoE3 but thats just my opinion)
Yes, either one is possible, it will depend on how far along they are in both DLCs…
