The game still crashes randomly SP/MP even after the hotfix, and the frequency of those crashes doesn’t seem to be altered in a positive way after a couple of tests. I ran 5 games and 4 ended with a crash, each time at different moments, without any seemingly correlated/redundant action.
Maybe roll back to the previous version of the game and run patches when they are actually tested and proofed.
sometimes game will crash when your files corrupted so i’d recommend delete metadata and profile folder, and also proceed to reinstall game. steam game file verify doesn’t catch it somehow, only by reinstall game would help.
Hi there,
If you are still crashing, please include a note in the description of the BugSplat window that pops up, we can then try to look up your problem. It would also be nice to know if any mods (data, custom AI, custom scenario/RMS) were used.
Do note, however, that if you are attempting to continue games that were saved using build 99311, they might still crash - unfortunately, those will have to be started anew.
The crashes still occur, I believe it’s tied to an AI script conflicting with the latest game patch somehow (as neither this scenario neither this AI script has caused any issue before the patch). I sent the BugSplat report with detailed information and my email as well. I can send the AI script in question if somebody reaches back.
Thanks.
Confirmed. After the hotfix, every time I load a multiplayer game AND IF I randomly left-click during its first 2-3 seconds, the loading screen would slightly freeze, same when I load open the game. This happened in the past but it is again now. For me it is no big deal, but still it would likely crash so devs should take a look.
I’ve read all the bug reports produced after the crashes I experienced, it always talking about sync/desync stuff. So I don’t even think it’s anything related to player action.

I’m not sure about MP, since I haven’t tried MP since I reinstalled the game after the hotfix. But about custom scenarios, it was a basically the patch messing with some code lines of my AIs somehow. It did that with the pre Mountain Royals patch as well, basically rendering the code I was using for AI activation useless for some reasons.
But that might have no ties to MP or RMS. I have to run tests in both to be sure. If that goes fine, then maybe reinstalling the game fresh could have been the thing for me. We’ll see.
just testing 2-3 games without crash isn’t enough. gotta test like minimum 5+ games or 10 games for better consistency.
when AI somehow causing my mod to crash I had to run simulation test nonstop until finding the cause and oh boy was that a complete waste of time of troubleshooting.
sadly we modders get blamed for this as if we dont keep them updated or at least try to troubleshoot on our own.
I can understand mod breaks with new patch, but when the changes in the patch note dont specify what might cause it, and further more causing CRASH that should be on the game’s fault. the engine changed how certain things behaved and blame is put on us instead. kinda sad and kills motivation
and dev brushing them off cause “mod”. like if it wasn’t before and its happening with new patch then at least let us know whats changed but nope
I could not agree more. Let’s remind people that forgotten empires developers were once modders like us. Modders are extremely important for any game. We test things and help developers for free.
And yet, the save chapter bug is still unfixed for more than 2 years. This bug breaks any script written to the scenario. A key tool for any map maker or modder.
