The host SHOULD be able to select if people can use mods or not!

so leave then. you don’t have to stay. were just responding to your statements.

Not really, I need stuff to finish or I need everything to pause.

Holy cow, I thought these were diplo maps

No, don’t twist my words. What I’m saying is that the host should have the choice of let the players usie mods or not in HIS LOBBY in the same way he can choice what map will be played and which game mode and settings. So, if I create a Lobby is to set up a game of my taste and play it with people with my similar taste. For the average game settings you have Quickplay and ranked where you can use as mods as you want, I use them too, but nobody is forcing no one to play in a particular way with this idea nor proposing banish mods from the game. Please, don’t overreacting.

this i’m completely okay with. just like i’m okay with people telling the host adios when they want to play the way they want to play and not be constrained by the hosts rules.

Just like lobbies work today… Or the lobbys has the option of voting any setting of the game? No, the host has the last word in everything of his lobby.
The guy here just asking to add an option to block the mods for HIS LOBBY…

The first sentence says it simple… I’m really scare of how discussions disgregates soo fast here…

pretty much man…pretty much

But it also ruins the beauty of the game and nothing makes up for that.

Cant you just tell people to disable mods? I mean, this is very specific to your particular maps where you feel like players must experience the map as you intended, so if players can agree to playing with you, cant they also agree to turn of the mods?

Ps: Not that I disagree with the request. I, for one, would not join a lobby that has mods disabled for this reason as I do not care about aesthetics in this game, but I think you should be able to do it.

for one, looks is subjective.
for two, gameplay > looks all day every day. a game that looks great but plays bad won’t do well. look at cyberpunk as a good example. this is why being able to see your woodline and micro villagers and make sure villagers aren’t getting trapped or bugged is important.

Small trees aren’t very realistic and doesn’t scale well to the rest of the units, it’s crazy a villager is taller than pine tree.

and it’s fine that you feel that way - but again - gameplay matters a lot more then looks to most people. its why a game that looks great, but plays awfully, will fail.

besides, this game takes a lot of liberties with realism. I mean we literally have archers with unlimited arrows, axeman throwing two headed axes and mamelukes that throw swords. we also have random gold just laying around on the ground.

best you can do here is a warning screen indicating the scenario should be played without mods for X reasons, any more makes 0 sense

What’s unrealistic about that?

throwing axes were normally smaller and something you could easily hold in one hand. furthermore WHERE DO THEY ALL COME FROM? you want to talk realism - tell me how mamelukes, throwing axeman, archers of all sorts, defensive buildings, town centers, siege units, and of course water units never run out of ammunition. That isn’t realistic at all.

oh - and explain hit points to me - that isn’t realistic. if a guy gets stabbed with a sword, odds are he’s gonna die. not take 10 more hits from the sword before he dies.

Eh…

Don’t know why I said “eh”.

Dont feed the troll I suppose?

You do artful things, that’s nice.

Take away the ability to have mods in public games, and someone’s going to do what you’re doing, except make it utterly horrendous for the laughs. Just a massive maze of these little tiny plants mixed in with actual trees all around just to make things terrible. Because it’s funny.

If you’ve put time into making the map nice and you want players to enjoy it, ask them to turn mods off. There’s no other way to do this fairly.
