The soundtrack has been listed on Amazon. You can preview 30s of the tracks, or, you can resist the temptation if you don’t want to “spoil” the experience when the game comes out. It will be great when the full album is available, as I can’t even tell if I’ve heard some of the songs in the 30s demo!
Edit: Upon further listening, imo, the tracks have slightly been relegated to “background music” with similar tonality, but using the recognisable tunes. I.e. there seems to be a little too much reverb/smearing in a way, and less epic percussion and dynamics than what occurred in the Redbook audio tracks. They’ll still be much welcomed though Especially the MIDI ones from original AoE.
Wow, sounds great and another great community find, it’s coming up here as the ‘motion picture soundtrack’ get ready for AOE the film lol.
Expected release date is surprising as I would have thought it would be released alongside the game.
One of the tracks is called ‘Coming of the Huns’. My original collectors edition doesn’t have names on the tracks just numbers for each song, is this what the track has always been known as or new civ alert? The Huns were AOK not AOE.
soundtracks add so much to games! and sometimes they are nice listening to them randomly not only when playing! fortunately we could listen to part of them on Amazon
The soundtrack is really, really good in my opinion. Still, I wish that at least for the main them they would stick closer to the original, imho they changed it too much (assuming that there aren’t any alternative versions of this track to be released).
I think thats a good decision. But they kinda mixed them together. The result is great. Because “Gray Sky” is THE Age Of Empires theme. And the DE-Theme is the best version of all AOE themes i heard. Just wow.
