The upcoming 'Baltic' DLC - what Home City Cards & Minor civs do we want to see?

Obviously we all know due to the extremely long and informative reveal (sorry, the first and last sarcasm here  ) that we have the Poles and Danes to look forward to, but what unique shipments would you love to see for them.

As of recent, shipments often have a historical flavour - normally nodding to events, historical militaries, and technology developed by the civ.

In regards to the Minor Civ bit, thereā€™s potential room for native minor civs and Royal Houses still. The big disclaimer is that going by a Discord dev post some ago, itā€™s probably unlikely weā€™ll see any more Royal Houses, though that doesnā€™t entirely rule of minor civs outside that and nothings ever certain anyway with AOE3 (ā€¦mustā€¦notā€¦succumbā€¦too a sarcastic postā€¦).

For me, especially with the Danish (and I assume their joint kingdom with Norway) in mind, Iā€™d love to see a minor Inuit civ (possibly one of the Greenland subgroups such as the Kalaallit). Greenland is their biggest colony (in size, rather than pop!) and is rather unique, so having a minor civ (which could be used on other maps) available, especially with some Danish HC cards linked to it would be rather neat.

Sami and Samoyed minor civs would also be most welcome.

For Polish civ:

  • KremĆ³wki - one time 2137 Food

( Ķ”Ā° ĶœŹ– Ķ”Ā°)

Nice - that fits the timeline as well (and is very tasty!)

Maybe the Danish can have the more utilitarian SmĆørrebrĆød?

A minor civ has to be useful in at least 5 maps.
The Inuits would be the most possible since they can be used in maps of Canada, Greenland and even Alaska.
The Sami would be good but unlikely unless you split the Scandinavia into many maps.

John Paul 2 recommends it!

BTW. Stupid fun fact: A guy who studied with me at a technical school. He thought that John Paul II was the last king of Poland.

I am sure that if there will be new royal houses, especially because there are maps in which some royal houses are repeated which do not belong to said places and are only there filling the gap, there is a need for royal houses from Spain, Holland, England and Ireland, also taking into account the great success and the pleasant reception from the fans who had it, I am sure that if they reconsider adding new real houses, on the other hand, we must remember that the DLCs have to have enough content so that they can be viable for sale. If we take into account that they will not add campaigns at most, only two historical battles, then they will have to add new royal houses so that the promotion of the new Poland and Denmark DLC is successful, well, it makes no sense to want to sell an expansion for a game with little content, no one in their right mind would buy it and it would only be a waste of time and money. Furthermore, I donā€™t think they are going to waste the success that AOM RTD is having, which uses the same graphics engine as AOE III DE, I imagine that The developersā€™ intention is for both games to coexist with each other by collaborating in future events to promote both games, Exposing some suggestions a little, I think that Denmark will be a little like Sweden with some unique units supported by mercenaries and its only revolution will be Norwegian, on the other hand Poland would be more like Mexico full of revolutions since Poland in the time in which AOE III takes place It was full of revolts and invasions by other European nations. I imagine that Poland will be more focused on cavalry, having weak or rudimentary military units given Polandā€™s little technological advance for its time. I also think that they will add new natives for some maps. especially for the Alaska and Greenland maps, it would be great if they added Eskimo natives, there is really a lot of material to take into account with this new DLC, I just hope that the developers give this new DLC the love it deserves to return to please AOE III De fans.

Iā€™ll broaden this topic to be Revolutions as well as HC cards and minor civs.

The Danish could probably get St.Croix Maroons as an interesting rev choice - Maroons and escaped slave populations also were part of the Danish West Indies and rebelled a number of times. (Iā€™d probably push for the Haiti choice for Brits to be Jamaican Maroons as well).

For Minor Civs:

  • House of Savoy: Some Italian themed units
    Cacciatore, Cannone alla , etc.
  • Tudors: Renaissance English units
    Demi-lancers, etc.
  • Stuart: Scottish Units
    Targeteer, etc.

For Cards:
Iā€™d like Danes to get access to Bosniaks, as they had a regiment.

If there isnā€™t a Sami minor civ to have this, this shipment should go to Denmark(-Norway) though arguably could go (but shouldnā€™t for balance) to Sweden and Russia):

Reindeer Husbandry
Allows training limited numbers of Domesticated Reindeer at Livestock Pen. Reindeer unlike other livestock fatten quicker near to the nearest thing we have to rocky outcrops - mines (Norwegian reindeer herds grazing in the mountainous regions), rather than the Liverstock Pen.

Siida
Settlers tasked to harvesting Reindeer also gain a Coin trickle (abstractly resprenting the trade and material wealth from furs, bones, etc)

Reindeer Pastures
Domesticated Reindeer generate more Food when not near buildings - an ā€˜antiā€™ aura of sorts.

Could we pick Danish pastery instead?

I am not confident we will see many if any new natives for the DLC, Sami and Inuits are the ones making the most sense but 1 of those is in europe which is unlikely to see many natives and the other one would have to be retrofitted to earlier maps.

Maybe they could add some new Indian minors? though that would require new maps in India.

As for other unique ā€œflavourā€ card ideas:

Holsteineer breed, cows carry more food and villagers gather from cows quicker.

Ƙresund told, defensive buildings placed near trade posts gain a trickle of income from every trade post in range.

I could go on but i made 2 threads about it, so i suggest reading those for ideas.

I would love to read some suggestions for Poland though.

Sure - why not, letā€™s have some Danish Pastry (I tried to use the Danish lanuage form of it, however it was censored!) instead

Iā€™d also like to add Skytsborg (aka Blackbeardsā€™s Tower, on the once Danish-owned St.Thomas island). Either as a thematically-named Outpost Wagon shipment or as a new one that could ship a slightly-buffed Battery Tower

Andersenā€™s Fairy Tales: Every shipment would additionally bring 200 xp of book crates since this shipment.

That is an excellent shipment suggestion.

Despite it being constructed in the early 20th century, the Danish HC should totally get a really, disappointingly tiny Little Mermaid statue!

Yes, I think they will add 5 new royal houses and gradually add them to the other European mapsā€¦ then instead of 2 historical battles, they will add 8 historical maps with conflicts from the 18th and 19th centuries, from the War of the Spanish Succession in 1700 to the German unification in 1871 (there could be a map of the Livonian War in the 1560s but I find it somewhat unlikely)ā€¦

Yeah, that would be really coolā€¦ AoMR events in AoE 3 and AoE 3 events in AoMRā€¦

It was already leaked how the civs are going to be 2 years agoā€¦The Danes would have featured Royal Grenadiers (Heavy Ranged Infantry with Promotions and ā€œarmed with a powerful musket to defeat infantryā€), Espingol (Artillery, possibly a unique Danish version of the Gatling Gun, as historically Espingols were a precursor to the modern machine guns) and a Royal Oldenburgs card (that would have allowed them to train Royal Grenadiers and allied the player with the House of Oldenburg). The Polish would have featured Grand Hetman (possibly a hero), Scythemen, and Polish Lancers. Variations of the Polish Lancer model are used for Revolutionary Franceā€™s Eclaireur and the Dutchā€™s Red Lancer unit available through the namesake unique Church technology.
In the same update, the Royal Guard upgrade for the Uhlan was renamed from Czapka Uhlans to Prussian Uhlans, another hint that something Polish could be in the works, as Czapka is known in English as a word for the 19th-century Polish cavalry headgear.
Although the unit was cut, the Polish Lancerā€™s animation file was reused for the Eclaireur, and it was later updated so that the original, Polish version of the unit required an unavailable technology, strongly suggesting a Polish Revolution, or Poland as a civilization, would be coming to the game in the future.

Yes, and you also have Royal Houses of Liechtenstein, Nassau, Grimaldi and Bernadotteā€¦ then for a Balkan DLC you include the Balkan dynastiesā€¦

It may also serveā€¦

I would also really want to see ## ##### Royal House with Turkish units on maps in the Balkans, North Africa, Mesopotamia, Anatolia, etc.

Units could be Sillhadar, Levends, TĆ¼fekƧi maybe an ottoman style cannon, perhaps a Darbzen or Balyemez.

Edit: I do not know why O S M A N is shaded out, but it is. Huh.

Wouldnā€™t the little mermaid be under public domain now?

Oh man!

The Obese Merrman it is then.

The adventure itself is but not the statue for some stupid reason. The copyright ends in 2029.

The Danish Wikipedia article is actually censored because of it:
