“Toggle Extended Tooltips” still keeps getting disabled - v101.102.52940.0 (#118476).
Every time I’ve fire AoE2:DE up the past couple weeks to play, it is disabled. I have to re-enable it every time. So, the issue has gotten much worse (much more frequent than ever for me)
I never hit F1 to cause this. Neither on purpose, nor by accident.
And even after I enable it for single player, if I play ranked, it’s disabled. I’m not Viper or Hera. I don’t memorize what everything can do and what units are good against what. Extended Tooltips are my crutch, so I don’t like that my crutch keeps getting yanked away from me and I don’t find out until I’m mid-match when I need it. I forgot F1 is a way to toggle it back on, so I’ve just been accepting it’s absence in ranked games. I will ‘try’ to remember F1 next times, but I wish this bug could get more attention/fixed someday.
Old posters had the same issue, as seen by a couple old threads below. Who knows how many players nowadays are impacted and they just don’t realize it.
EDIT: Annnnd, it got disabled again. Literally 30 or 60 mins after I had looked at the setting earlier today. I didn’t notice until mid-match that it had disabled, a time that I urgently needed it. So, I went to the Options menu to re-enable it… forgetting the F1 in the heat of the moment, and forgetting that I was about two seconds away from doing “104-Don’t Resign” chat to AI – since the AI loves resigning when they have tons of buildings and villagers left and that’s another issue. So I re-enabled Extended Tooltips, kept playing, and AI resigned much too early, as usual. Doesn’t want to give me the satisfaction of exploring the map, finding their base, and winning when I decide to. What a waste of time. This game has a mind of its own coupled with amnesia
