Top 3 units need be nerfed serius

Chinaco is kinda problematic for they, since the vanilla launch, crammed the cateogory of “light” cavalry with the “heavy cavalry” and then they made the ranged cavalry dragoons they called light cavalry.
Spain was kinda of the two exceptions, along with France. So, lets take from there. I think Chinaco tries to fullfill the role of the spanish lancer as infantry killer, while they are also given the task of calvary killer and even meatwall.
My idea for a nerf to Chinaco is as following:
Make them some kind of two population cossack, which, in exchange of their extra pop cost, have anti infantry bonus. They got a lasso attack which holds all their anti cavalry role, but they got no anti-cav in normal attacks.
Or, give Mexico their own cuirassier version, which is special anti-cavalry heavy cavalry, make chinaco into a cheap but weak lancero and perhaps made their dragoon into something more mexican perhaps.

they are in no way a specific anti-cav unit and I don’t get how people are still saying that. Just look at their stats: 30 HP less than a Hussar with less damage and all the multiplier does is make the damage vs heavy cav equal to that of a Hussar. This is still a strong thing since they can hold their own vs standard heavy cav while deleting infantry but it doesn’t make them a “cav killer”

Not a cav killer but a unit that kill everything.

that is true with a few excetion and is pretty broken but I don’t see the cav multiplier as a big problem tbh.

I’ve suggested that the lance upgrade card should only add 0.75x vs infantry, the Presidential Lances’ charged attack should simply be a normal attack with +2 AoE, and the guard upgrade should add only +30/30%. In exchange they can be buffed slightly in the early game. Maybe with like +15-20hp.

The bonus vs heavy cavalry is only an issue because of how good they are against infantry. They behave too much like a lancer, but without the weakness to heavy cavalry.

The card just defies the design of a Semi-Lancer since it’s not meant for them. All other civ specific Semi-lancers get cards that do increase their anti infantry multiplier but also lower the HI muli so it goes back down to x1 which Caballeros does’t. Another pretty broken interaction of this is Bosniaks that get insane stats with Spain(and to a lesser degree also Mexico and the Argentina revolution). Getting rid off the card would also be pretty difficult since mexico gets Spanish Lancers aswell that somewhat need the card(even if it can be argued that those are used more for the age4 tempo than later on with buffs)

It is as easy as rising malus vs HI only for chinacos, like any other civ cards do.

Spain can keep ot due to not being overtuned, but Mexico is

it is if you roll the right unit in the tavern but almost nobody playing this game seems to bother with those builds so doesn’t matter a lot

The card should really be “Lancers get 0.5x vs infantry. Lance cavalry gets 0.5x vs infantry. Chinacos get 0.25x vs infantry.”

That would double count Lancers and Chinacos while being less impactful on Mercs and natives.

The real problem with the Chinaco is the multiplier vs all types of infantry with the Caballeros card, the damage against heavy infantry is too high

Lately I’ve been playing a lot with Mexico and sometimes I really feel bad for the enemies losing masses of musketeers against the chinacos

Or just add the respective negative bonus to heavy infantry to everyone but Spanish lancers. The issue is the “Lancer” tag.

Otherwise, asian cards should be the same, especially for these civs that struggle vs units like grenadiers or (unfortunately) AKs due to poor access to anti infantry artillery

in theory yes but there are so many different Lancer units out there that range from 1,5x vs infantry but 0,67x vs HI over 2x and 0,5x to flat out 4x like Jat Lancer - Making it balanced for all of them would make the card way too complicated
