Speaking of I really hope they update the V&V scenerios with the new civs, but i’m slightly nervous that they won’t given Jurchens & Khitans not getting updated for the Temujin scenerio properly (at least not that I recall, unless they went back and did it later)
Well, keep in mind something here: The scenarioes were done by Philly and are heavily customized on the civ part.
It is not impossible the civs will be updated, and it will be very cool, but as they rely on trigger modified content, there is little chance they get an update. The reason is not “it was done by the community first” but really that “trigger heavy” part.
We’ll probably see a new viking scenario for VnV, like the chinese one, to serve as a showcase (maybe siege of paris ?).
Same for the Byzantine scenario with varangian units in VnV, it was designed with triggers and updating it with the new content may take a lot of time for the balancing of the new content, if you see what I mean.
Scenario enhancement with all the new eye candy would be crazy, I’d love to see that, but I’d love to see also all the oldschool campaign rewamped, not reworked, with all the new graphics added since their original versions, while I’m also happy to have them “intact” as they were when I was a child.
No more viking scenarios for VnV, there’s a lot of them already, and the Siege of Paris is already inside Ragnar scenario, there’s no need for more
The Jin Dynasty were not updated to Jurchens in Temujin, so I do not expect any changes.
V&V got a lovely visual update after Chronicles. But nothing mechanical.
Introduction to the rework gameplay. If there is a civ rework, there will be a new scenario added. It’s not about is there enought or not, it’s how they seems to use the DLC as a Tool, or at least they did that with the 3K.
I think it will depend on the scale of the rework, as there is no official Viking campaign yet, like there was no Chinese campaign, there is high chances VnV will receive a new scenario.
Did not know that, pretty cool.
The Romans were added to every Scenario after Return of Rome and their new unique units added, so getting the Varangian Guard to replace in the Byzantine scenarios is very likely
Yeah, that’s exactly why i’m hoping for it as opposed to expecting it lol. Otherwise i’d have confidence it would happen but given this it makes me nervous it won’t.
But, VnV scenarios exist in mod versions… So feel free to update them with the new content on your own, if Philly authorise it of course.
Yes but once more, VnV is bascially some mods turned official for most of them, relying on custom civs edits.
For scenarios where the civs are vanilla yes, they may be updated yes, but for scenarios like the Ragnar Raids, definitly not because you could have any civ instead of viking here due to the heavy trigger modifications.
The Hardrada mega-campaign is announced to have Viking scenarios, no need for have other separate ones
That’s true. Good point there. However we know they updated VnV, so something will be added to it, either balancing, new language, or new scenario.
Most likely they’ve added new assets like new Scandinavian animals and editor objects
Exactly! Of course they won’t add any scenarios to V&V, there is already far enough Vikings stuff in it. They added a Chinese scenario because they felt guilty not adding a full campaign for them in TTK. I guess the new assets of The Vikings Sagas is the occasion for some beautification on V&V scenarios (Vikings but also Charlemagne - with the Saxons - hopefully).
Saxon Revolt return… I want to believe…
Yeah, it doesn’t sound bad… the Saxon revolt, now with real Saxons lol…![]()
Mountain Royal updated 57 minutes ago.
The Armenians face the Byzantines. Maybe the update is because of the varangian guards.
Pre-order shall be for the end of August, while release will probably be end of september / early october.
So we’ll have a trailer in the coming weeks.
There is a chance the DLC releases on the anniversary of the original game, September 27th, which is also my 25th birthday.
Damn, badass birthday bro !
For the exact date, as AoE3 dlc will be released on September 10th, yeah the week of your birthday is kinda eligible, it’s 2 weeks after the release, so enought time for some hotfixes + AoE2 dlc teasing with every day / two days teasing.
Part of me is optimistic that this is them adding a new Caucasian architecture set retroactively.
