Two empty "unknown app" DLCs at SteamDB: the next 2026 DLCs?

No don’t give me hope…

Actually the mediterranean architecture design matches medieval caucase, at least for the current civ, from what I found.

If they add a caucasian specific style someday, it will probably be in a caucasian focused dlc adding some “non mediterranean building style people” (as in, people living a different life style).

There is a chance the art team can someday work on a caucasian new architecture, when Chronicle will cover this part of the world in their content. Why that ? Because making the work on both medieval and antiquity of the same area with the same budget is a win win method to spare money.

So just be patient, the dev tend to improve the authenticity of every civ, or at least enhancing their authenticy with time. And as the Caucase is a region we have very few content about, it’s a good candidate for futur DLC thematic someday.

But there is no chances that there will be a second architecture set in the coming update. Why that ? Because you have to remember that the new architecture set is released for Free in the main game update. Then the DLC sales cover the cost, and fund the future content, but the release is “for free”. People will be able to benefit from the architecture set via the Vikings, like they did for the Incas, if you see what I mean.

And don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying they don’t deserve their own set. Just saying it’s not going to happen this fall for economic reasons through game developpement cycle.

Yes, September 10th is also two days before the Battle of Vienna (September 12th, 1683)…everything is connected…

Barbarossa icon steamdb app updated 4 hours ago. That kinda confirm there is not a new viking themed icon package but more some new icons added to exiting package.

The Viking Sagas will be released on September 22:

What are the two steamdb entries then? One is Rome likely, the other?

Another AOE2 mainline DLC. My guess is that it will be in Africa or Meso-North America.

The one ending with 720 is the next chronicle, the other one we have no clue yet but will be a vanilla dlc. As White mentionned, africa is probably the next theme, mainly due to the amount of time elapsed between The African Kingdom and now, but it’s only a guess.

While I really hope it isn’t, I wouldn’t be suprised if it is something with the Celts, given the Scots civ in AOE 4, research all at once for that, a Celts DLC for AOE 2, and a Celtic pantheon for AOM. Again, I reaaaaaaaly hope that isn’t what it is though, i’d much prefer Africa.

2 more DLCs already in the works??? wow. looks like they dont slow down with the DLC run, even if i think that 2 classic DLCs in one year is kinda crazy. but as long they are good i dont complaine.

Africa and maybe something different outside of Europe would be welcome.

as a European i just love the settings outside of it. for another Asian DLC is to soon i guess… even if this is my 2. pick.

2 DLC after the next one, good. I think 2 DLC by year is fine. But also I think two medieval DLC by years is too many because some days ago Hera complained than this ad too many new units to learn to play for the ranked players in one year, 5 ranked civilizations in 2025 and 6 ranked civilizations in 2026 it’s too much for some ranked player (for single player it’s fine) .

In the future it’s better to do two DLC by year, one medieval and one Chronicles. Maybe 3 or 4 ranked civilizations by year like in the period 2015-2023.

yeah, they should go back to the style of the first few DLCs.

2 civs with 3 campaigns. that included 1 campaign for a old civ that is connected with the theme of the DLC.

we still have so many civs without one. TmR DLC is nearly 3 years ago, the last DLC that added a campaign for one that didnt had one for like 20+ years the Persians.

or even better, 3 civs and 4 campaigns, with one for an older civ. Or just a straight campaign only DLC covering multiple of the missing ones ( and eventually a second one for civs with multiple interisting candidates)

Yeah, it is weird that they haven’t kept the model of the last two years with one Main game and one Chronicles alternating, it had a good balance through the year. Maybe they’ve flipped the next Chronicles with the next year’s DLC because it needed more time to release.

Fully agree, give the civs who don’t have a campaign one or you could even mix it up and do a reverse what if campaign.

You could then flip the campaigns and it shouldn’t be a lot of cost for them as the core is already there.

But then people would moan it’s not historical I guess

Not weird at all because we know they work on the same thing in various games.

First Asia : Chinese and Japanese in AoM, Three Kingdoms DLC in AoE2, Dynasty of the east and Yue Fey in AoE4. We see the same civilization in various games, some unit are the same (fire lancer in AoE2 and a technology who transform the spearmen in fire-lancer in AoE4 for the Jurchen).

Second America with the Aztecs in AoM and The last Chieftains in AoE2.

Third a work about north Europe. Vikings in AoE2 and AoE4, Scottish in AoE3 and AoE4. Some units are the same (clansmen warrior and gallowglass in AoE3 and AoE4)

And I agree with you they flipped the release of the medieval and Chronicles DLC.

Well not really, Chronicle is a spin-off, not part of the schedule. It’s just they invested more worktime into vanilla than last year, but it’s not the first time so many dlcs are released in a row. It’s not a “model”, it’s “what it was for the last years”. Also remember the Covid is now over, so more worktime available.

Yes, that’s the general idea…

World Edge: “Yes, we mustn’t turn off the tap of the saga… we now have 4 active games (AoE 2, AoM, AoE 3 and AoE 4), we have to get the most out of them”…:joy:

Technically, the Scots in AoE 3 are a minor civilization; the main dlc related civilization would be the Danes…

Exactly, in fact, to avoid overloading the devs, they can hire more people (or more modders of the classic mods)…
