For what is worth. If I ever finish the Argentina civ mod I was working on I’m totally putting Rosas as the civ leader, I find him much funnier as an AI character than San Martin. He’d provide much better interactions just due to his “I don’t give half a damn about politeness regarding my political opponents” than any other option.
Kind of a similar vein with Portales and Chile. Like sure, he’s a controversial figure cuz dude was a complete bastard, but hey, that’s kinda the fun of it, a completely machiavellian figure would provide a very interesting AI personality. Most of your interactions with the AI is fighting against them anyways, it’s more fun when you’re fighting with someone you can actively hate.
I think that after the changes in Ottomans civ, one could add another Islamic civilization coming from Europe to AoE 3 - Tatars.
The Tatars were of great importance in the history of the European continent. They supported the Ottomans in wars and fought them themselves (with Poles and Russians, for example). Adding this civ could also bring with it a brand new Architecture Set for Tatars and Ottomans. In this way, the Ottomans civ would have fully acquired their identity in this game. The Tatars civ would bring with them a lot of cool new things that could be used in Historical Battles and in improving the Chinese civ (because the Tatars created a civilization connecting the Turkish and Mongolian peoples).
Development of a common Architecture Set for the Ottomans civ and Tatars civ may be much more effective and visually attractive than other ######## ############ Sets already existing in the game like South European and North European.
Persians civ should be Asian civ, that is, have its own unique architecture and Wonders.
Potentially, the Persians civ could, together with the Arabians (Oman) civ and the Moroccans civ, usher in a completely new category of civilization - Middle Eastern with completely new things like African civs.
Even more than the Ottomans, the Tatars were located in Europe, because the center of their life and power was in the Crimea and the areas west of the Urals. Therefore, the Tatars civ should be the European civ, but like the Ottomans civ, they should have their own distinctiveness because of their uniqueness.
I think Georgians and the rest of the Caucasus peoples (Armenians, Circassians and others) could get their own Minor Civilizations in the Middle East DLC.
I am counting on Asia finally getting a whole new type of Minor Civilizations that will represent people, not religion. Asian Holy Sites are no longer Asian, because this type of Minor Civilizations is not suitable for the Asian representation, but is good for replenishing maps from all continents - so for example, the Jesuit Mission is already doing in the game on the maps of the Americas, Africa and Asia.
It could be a cross between post-colonial civilizations and Asian civilizations, ie: You can potentially build 4/5 wonders, and each wonder unlocks 2 cards. It would be interesting.
I think Middle Eastern civs should have a “scientific” Age Up. Civilizations from that region were famous for their high level of scientific and technological achievements. They could have a unique building - the Science Center. This building could unlock unique technologies and HC cards. Age Up could be held in the Town Center by default, but Science would be chosen instead of politicians - eg Astronomy, Math, Alchemy etc. Choosing “Science” would have an impact on the content in the Science Center. Near East civs could be somewhat of a cross between European, Asian and African civs, but with their own identity.
The process of working with the current Asian Holy Sites would be to note:
Asian Holy Sites
In this way, the current type of Minor Civilizations would become officially intercontinental and complement maps from all over the world. Asia would have a completely new type of Minor Civilizations to represent the peoples of Asia.
In earlier times this may have been the case, but in the time of AoE3, they were starting to stagnate and fall behind. The Mongol conquests were a pretty big setback to their advancement.
