I’m more of a casual casual player on aoe 4. My main issue is the unit balance. They need a better counter system that has stronger counters to siege and some tweaks on other unit counters. Then the game would be much better
Yes, it feels that the games before they put more effort …
Of course, aoe 4 feels very generic and lacks the charisma that the previous games had: aoe 1 had the priests who said aoeo aoeo aoe, the photoman, aoe 2 buff…had his charismatic campaigns, the relics, the 10 elephants that entered the ship, the cobra car, etc etc etc… aom had the powers of the gods and the epic story of Arkantos and his son Castor, aoe 3 had its super graphics and physics and its fauna, flora and other elemtos like the natives who made it super alive and vibrant…and aoe online had that aesthetic cartoon and the ancient age that made it super charismatic…but aoe 4 has nothing salvageable, except the troops in the walls, the forests to ambush, the documentaries and already…that’s all it has
Of course, I couldn’t have said it better…
it because the censorship is hard there. Also any complain is downvoted into the oblivion. If you mean that reddit is the actual accurate representation about discontent, means that devs actually dont care about changing or do actual thing which is kinda true for the silence in other forums but otherwise not so bcause there are only abou 180 ppl that are active in that sub that have like 50k which makes this one more accurate for being more active with free speech than reddit one.
They do not play them because they do not grab the turn of those civs…
Of course there is a greater representation of the variety of opinions, constructive criticism and wanting to learn to play and get to know the game.
There is freedom of expression, as well as moderate unacceptable behavior.
It is good that there is a downvote and perhaps the one who gives his point of view would realize that he is not being successful or has not transmitted it well.
Perhaps if you complain about the “lack of freedom of expression” it is because perhaps you have dedicated yourself to behaving badly there?
ik but the point is that the well behaved opinion that want to be constructive is also gets downvoted.
Of course, you have reason, as in aoe 4 there are almost no gunpowder units, as if there is in aoe 3…they did not even decide to put physics to the game, worse still you can not knock down the trees as it happened in the aoe 2, and I do not tell you of aoe 3 that directly fell and rolled on the ground…and I who complain only about the generic campaigns of the game…
Of course, but I say they spent too much xd… they made a generic medieval rts, that if with a lot of budget on top to make the documentaries, which within everything are good, I give it until October of this year to redeem itself, but I get off the boat…
Yes, it feels like aoe 3, but without all the charisma and graphics of that game … and about Frost Giant, what kind of rts do you think they are doing? Medieval fantasy like Warcraft 3 or futuristic and science fiction like Stracraft 2… I saw that in the team there are many developers of sc2 and one or two who made the campaigns of wc3; if it is science fiction, I sign up to play it, since I have both starcraft and I like them very much…
A big quality-of-life issue I am hoping they’ll fix up is adding back in color selection, even if only to non-competitive games. As a non-competitive player, I can’t speak to what’s best for the competitive scene (but I would love to hear a comp player’s thoughts on this!).
When I’m playing a custom game with my gf, we’ll play against a few AIs. All of which show up as red, so from the start we can’t just say “I’m getting attacked by green” which is something we’ve been saying our whole lives, as we’ve been playing since the very first AOE game. So the confusion about “which AI is which?” is really annoying.
But even more confusing is our own colors. I think I’m blue, my gf thinks she’s blue, and then in the timeline stats post-game suddenly everyone is some random color they didn’t play as. It’s not game-breaking obviously, but it’s really awkward and confusing. It hinders clear communication for people who are playing over VC, which if you’re playing non-competitively is I imagine a lot of people nowadays (since so many gamers have Discord).
This is probably at the top of my list that I’m hoping to see in an update now. The other thing was letting me pick a random civilization, which they just released. So happy about that.
The same, between DoW and AoE 3 there was only one year difference: DoW (2004) and AoE 3 (2005), so do not worry about the dates…
Of course, even the AIs of aoe 2 respond to the taunts, and I do not tell you those of the 3 that you ask for things and they respond very kindly, in fact the AIs of aoe 3 act according to their historical personalities, being Napoleon and Tokugawa the most aggressive in that sense…
Of course, I couldn’t have said it better…at this point aoe 4 would have to see as one of its rivals as ancestors legacy or mannor lords, no worse than a game of 2005, say aoe 3 or battle for middle-earth 2…
Yes color picker is very important. I don’t understand why they didn’t use a color picker for the start of the game rather than the team colors. It is obvious that most players prefer color picker over team colors. Maybe some extremly competitive players prefer the current system.
In season 2 we will finally have a color picker. Season 2 come out approximately in July 2022. In the meantime you and your friends can set an option in the settings to disable team based colors. Like this everyone has a unique color. You can not choose the color but at least everyone has another color.
Yes a more lively AI would be very important. Especially for casual players. An AI like in AOE3 or even better lile in the medieval game Stronghold.
I recently made a post about this important topic.
Of course,at the rate they go when they launch things in July there will be no one playing the game…
Of course, I couldn’t have said it better…
The problem is that there will be no saga by then…
