Okay, we have civs that are considered weak. As in they only strong in the Imperial Age and on closed maps. But, let’s make an extreme example where rushing is next to impossible. Your scout rush build order is utterly pointless here. Resources are quite rich as well.
As you can see. Rushing is going to be a bad idea on this map. It’s going to be a grindfest, even if you are facing a bad player. Which civ will do well in such a closed map setting?
And for 4v4 team games. Which civs would do well in this choke point setting? The map is basically michi, crossed with amazon tunnel, and fortress at the same time.
Mongols, Teutons and Britons are without a doubt going to do incredibly well since they all have incredible UUs and siege, basically any civ that has SO and an S-tier UU are amazing on Michi and Black Forest.
Huns, Tatars, and i’m not sure about Lithuanians, they are solid on Arena, but Arena doesn’t have 50,000 towers. I don’t think Mayans would be all that great either.
not really, Teutonic Knights are slow and immobile and the opponent can dance around them with ease. mix in some hand cannons or even very basic onagers and watch the TK melt.
i’m not talking micro, i’m talking just being where they aren’t. or just falling back. TK move so slowly even squireless champions can get away from them.
A new player would probably patrol into the Teutonic Knight army and hope for the best rather than running their units away besides it’s not like you can run your units around forever and hope to win the game.
Edit: You may have a point about the onagers though.
i was assuming we were talking about someone who at least had half an idea of what they were doing and not just patroling into units he can’t win against.
no, you just run away and then go where the TK aren’t and hit the opponent there.
Idk if Huns are actually good on these kind of maps. Sure you have a bonus for trebs but in the long run it’s worse than siege engineers. Tarkans are good but when there is no room to maneuver to dodge halbs, it’s not a good idea. The civ in general dies to halb+siege. Have fun cutting trees without onagers. Eh.
On the flip side this lack of room to maneuver makes teutonic knights somewhat better here than usual. Ofc you still need to have an opponent that has bad archer, have tons of siege yourself to counter their siege and to be insanely rich, but it’s situationally doable and always fun.
but again, they are absolutely slow. so what you do is set up your siege, attack, and when the TK get close enough you just unsiege and move away. or lead the TK into onagers, hand cannons, etc.
then when the TK retreat, you move forward and repeat.
In TG Lith should be insane with your teammates being able to deal with enemy halb+siege, in 1v1 you better have good BBC micro. But the relic bonus is good enough you don’t auto-lose to halbs+siege like some other cav civs would.
Because people rarely use that surprisingly. Ig too much stuff goes on in a big game for people to remember about that.
