What do you think should be the focus of the next dlc for AoE2?

I see a new Andean set existing if and only if they add more South American civs, like the Chimu and Mapuche. As it stands now, Inca architecture is present in the Feudal Age, so it’s sort of appropriate, if only temporarily.

Chimu and Muisca!

Where did you see this, friend? On Wiki? Because the only representation I see is in the square shape of the buildings and their thatched roof, but these characteristics can be found practically all over the world.

The stonework is almost identical to rough Inca stonework, and the thatched roof is also very similar to actual Inca thatched roofs. Out of the American civs in-game, the combination of the two is distinctly Incan, as the Aztecs and Mayans used adobe for their vernacular architecture.

Here’s an example Incan house which looks similar to the Feudal architecture:

I agree that there should be a new Andean set eventually, but the Meso set will suffice for now for these reasons.

As far as I know, Muisca and Mapuche used almost no stone for their buildings, a far cry from the Incas. It is stated on the wikipedia that, unlike the three civilizations in present-day Mexico and Peru (the Aztec, Maya, and the Incas), they did not construct grand architecture of solid materials.

Introducing more civs doesn’t necessarily mean more accurate building sets. In this case I’d rather have the Incas continue to share the stone building set with the Aztecs than get a less accurate Andean set for Incas, Muisca and Mapuche.

Hypothetically if the north americans are added they too will use the current meso buildings not get a new set.Look at how the mongol were done in aok they used the asian buildings and had some yurts and eye candy things to add flavor.adding some wigwams and totem poles and other eye candy can make a decent NA civi.

We could really use more pre-columbian American civs. But how many combos you can do without horses?

Have they hinted at anymore DLC?

There is no such thing as Serbocroats, Serbs are orthodox and Croats are catholic…

Honestly i doubt that, it will be years before that… Even though i’m for more Asian and African civs, Balkans are always overlooked (excluding Greece)

Main issue with an balkans expansion is when you add one group rest get upset.

As an Asian person, I really hope that the devs could come up with new DLCs for East and SE Asia, cause right now these two regions are still somewhat underrepresented.

For a potential East Asian DLC, three new civs could be introduced: the Dians or Bo or Baipu (representing the Nanzhao/Dali kingdoms and other South China natives), the Jurchens, and the Tanguts. And the current Chinese civ needs to be renamed as Han or Hua.

For a potential SE Asian DLC, I also envision 3 new civs: the Chams, the Mons, and the Siamese. And the current Vietnamese civ can be renamed as Annamese.

And I’d like to see new DLCs for African and American civs as well. For instance, there could be a new DLC for South America featuring the Chimus, the Mapuches, and the Muisca.

@UpmostRook9474 While I do agree with you about muiscas and mapuches not using stone (I actually think they don’t fit in this game and shouldn’t be added). incas, chimor, wari, puquinas, chankas, diaguitas, huancas, etc, all have similar architecture. I don’t see problem with making a new set that represents the andean theme. Chimor is kinda weird though, they used stones as bricks like incas but covered them in adobe like the current african set. Btw we also need a new african set for a new african DLC

Out of the last 4 DLCs, only one wasn’t european. We’d need 2 DLCs for east asia, 1 for south east asia, 1 more for the indian peninsula, 2 for africa, 2 for south america, and 2 for meso-north america just to get the same treatment. And this is just about DLC content, not the total number of civs.

First of all, thank you very much for the efforts of your production team, so that RTS can still utilize its remaining heat in today’s era. I think it is necessary to create an East Asian DLC, as you said, we are already a bit tired of seeing a new European DLC, and as a major empire in the Middle Ages, China did not receive the treatment it deserved. Khitan, Jurchen, and other suitable ethnic themes can be used. The relevant historical records are also sufficient to provide basis and materials for the production of battles, such as Yelv Dashi.

I don’t know if you’re taking to me, but I’m not part of the production team in any capacity, I’m just doing those polls as a fan of the games xD

Yes I agree…

Those will be saved for future Return of Rome dlcs…

Yes, and it is another reason why, with the exception of Poland-Lithuania, they are in AoE 3…

It did not receive love directly… North America in AoE 2, unlike AoE 3, does not exist… although they could have a Haudenosaunee campaign (1534-1580), a Missippian with Tuskaloosa (1536-1541) and an Algonquin narrated by Jacques Cartier (1535-1543)…

Yes, I doubt that they put the Muiscas and the Mapuches in AoE 2… chronologically and playably they fit better with AoE 3…

They can use assets from American Conquest…

Yeah, but except for the Dracula campaign, the Balkans are almost untouched…you have the Pyrrhus of Epirus campaign, but that’s in RoR…

Yes, but it is not known if the civ limit is 48 or not…also I don’t think the devs will make more than 50 civs in the game…I think that at some point they will stop releasing civs in AoE 2 and they will focus on RoR …

Yes I agree…

Why would they take assets from a mod?

I meant to say The American World…American Conquest is another game…and yes, for example for The Forgotten, Lords of the West and Dawn of the Dukes they used assets from Age of Chivalry and for KotM from 3 DE they used assets from The Napoleonic Era mod…

In The Forgotten, sure, but not in LotW or DotD, right? They have some of the same buildings (e.g. Karlstejn Castle) but not actually the same graphics for them.

I guess he dosent know hindustani(indians renamed )and dravidians were originally in realms mod.

Maybe, but DE doesn’t use the assets from that mod either.
